Ford just released the all new 2005 Mustang...so I decided to make a topic for it.

It's powered by a 4.6 Liter SOHC 3V V8 that makes 300 horsepower and 315 ft/lbs of torque. It weighs in at around 3400 lbs and comes stock with a 3.55 rear-end.

All I can say is wow! (And, good job Ford!)

posted by  Widowmaker2k

WOW!!!!! Those are amazing pics. I actually like the new Stangs now. They come with those fog lights stock? The interior sure shaped up quite a bit since that last I've seen it too. Very nice!

posted by  Satty101

WOW WOW WOW thats amazingly awesome...both interior and exterior are awesome...and for the 4.6 V8 - isnt that the GT only?

Nice looking car, can you get any engine shots of it?

Yes. The base model will come equipped with an SOHC 4.0 Liter V6 that produces 200 horsepower. Still, not too shabby.

still not quite sure about it... i would have figured the engine would be a little "bigger"

posted by  mazda6man

It's a 4.6L, V8 that puts out 300hp. Exactly how big do you expect in a modern car?

posted by  vwhobo

That thing is sin ugly!

posted by  BavarianWheels

Thats the best looking car I have seen in a long time! The current Mustangs were great lookers but this baby is just sex on wheels!! I will have one!! :D

posted by  Mustang79

i just figured that a 4.6 V8 would be pushing a little more than 300hp

posted by  mazda6man

If that is "sex on wheels", then you must be sporting a rainbow sticker on the bumper of your car.

posted by  BavarianWheels

Motice the placement of the oil filter? That thing will be harder than hell to replace depending how covered it is from the underbody. Can't get at it from the top due to the fan and radiator in the way. If there's suspension or sway bars in the way of that thing, good luck. I changed the oil on my friend's Taurus. what a pain in the butt. (At school. Can't swear) We didn't tighten the thing enough because it's so damn hard to reach so we lost about 2 quarts of oil. costly mistake. actually embarrassed me too.

posted by  Satty101

It's alright to be jealous....I know, it's okay. The new BMW automobiles seem to have been severly beaten by the ugly stick, and seeing what Ford have done to the Mustang....well if I wasn't a Ford fan I too would be seething with jealously!! So you can say what you want, it's alright we all understand! :D

Oh by the way, I don't have any bumperstickers on my car, they are so tacky! Let me guess....hmmmmm...yeah you got one don't you....SOCCER MOM!!! :P

posted by  Mustang79

That's just too funny. You're right we're all "seething with jealously" because the Mustang is the most beautiful car on earth. Get a grip sonny. Six months after it's released it'll be another belly button, everybody will have one and it won't matter.

Everything with a 4.6 so far has excellent access to the oil filter, no reason to think this will be any different. As for your problem with the Taurus, they all have decent access to the filter as well. Instead of blaming the design, how about giving credit where credit is due. Operator error not the car left the filter loose and dumped two quarts of oil on the ground.

What Orange interior? Or do you mean the intrement light? Thats adjustable the driver can set to like 125 differant colors.

posted by  klous

Are the seats a figment of my imagination? Orange, red...what is the big difference...the point being...IT'S TOO BRIGHT!!

posted by  BavarianWheels

No, I don't think he's talking about the "intrement light" that you can adjust to "differant colors" you dimwit. Look at the seats and floormats. Orange, red, whatever you call them are just a little on the bordello side of good taste.

Gosh vwhobo, I hope you don't talk to your customers the same way if they have a question they want to ask you! Just take a chill pill and calm down! I'm just trying to say firstly, there are a hell of alot more VW beetles (new shape and old) than there are Mustangs. Secondly, I just wanted to know how much it would cost to fix up or tune a beetle to get the same all round performance as the new Mustang. Now is that anything to have tantrum over?

posted by  Mustang79

Ah, Barvarianwheels you don't know?

BMW's are for people who can't afford Mercedes Benzs!

posted by  Mustang79

Firstly, you are not a customer. What you are is someone who comes in and asks ambiguous questions. Then when I ask clarifying questions to better understand what you're after you accuse me of having a tantrum.

If you have something to say, then say it (you didn't in the previous post). If you have something to ask, then ask it. Just don't waste my time with your blathering.

posted by  vwhobo

Only for those who wish to spend a lot more for not much more "performance." (in regard to SL55 vs. M5 performance and pricing)

posted by  BavarianWheels

Okay, I just figured it out. When you get shitty with someone , it's stating your opinion. But when someone calls you on your BS, it's being disrespectful. Maybe you should run for elected office. It really doesn't matter because as I said before, your are insignificant. Have a nice day.

posted by  vwhobo

Ok vwhobo, I bring you just the shell of a 1965 VW Beetle. With just the shell what would be your estimate to build it back up to have the same all-round performance of the 2005 Mustang and money is no object! Ok is that clear enough for you?

If I'm wasting your time then you take things way to seriously! I'm on here for fun (like it should be!)

posted by  Mustang79

regular SL-55 or the AMG version?

posted by  Mustang79

1. You don't meet the required standards to be one of my customers but I'll play along.

2. Only a fool would think that I could take a car with what is essentially a 60 year old design and build it into a car that has "the same all-round performance of the 2005 Mustang". I'm very good but don't have the engineering resources of FoMoCo. To come even close there would be essentially nothing left of the original car.

3. This is where your little exercise collapses and shows how little you know. Money is ALWAYS an object. If it truly isn't then my answer would be "I'll let you know when I'm finished". I've built many "blank check" cars in my day but there's always a ceiling.

One last thing off of this topic. I just checked all of your posts to date. Apparently your idea of having fun is annoying people because that is the pattern shown in your posts. If you want to be a useful member of this community, why not try to help someone with useful information for a change?

posted by  BavarianWheels

Well to begin with. I did not start any of this, I just made a comment about how much I like the new Mustang and I get jumped about it. So all I was doing is just defending myself. So I think you should look into your actions because every comment I have made is after something you have said. So if you can't respect what someone else has said then maybe you should stick to just answering peoples car problems.

posted by  Mustang79

Barvarianwheels, yah your probably right. Still I'll take the new Mustang.

posted by  Mustang79

Where would the fun be in that? Besides, he doesn't want to just stick to the repairs and gearhead garage forums. And frankly, (and I hope most of the other people in here will agree with me) we don't want him to just stick to those 2 forums. It's way more fun with a hobo on the loose. :)

posted by  Satty101

No, that's not quite how it went down. I said nothing to you until you came up with this little jewel;

Reading that little diatribe, it appears that you are the one who doesn't respect other peoples opinions. And that's when I stepped in. I know I'm presenting you with facts that don't align with your fantasy world but that's life. You are proving yourself to be a crybaby who can dish it out but not take it. If you want respect you need to be respectful. Until you can do that and until you have something worthwhile to add to this forum you will remain insignificant.

vwhobo, if you read carefully that was not to you that was to Barvarianwheels. He said something to me about my opinion of the Mustang so I gave him an opinion about the styling of the new BMWs. So this only started when you butted into something that had nothing to do with you. So I suggest you get your facts straight before you shoot your mouth off and sound more and more like a ignorant idiot!!!

I LOVE this forum!!!!!

Hows the popcorn superjew?

If you read what Barvarianwheels said about my opinion of the 2005 Mustang you will see I was perfectly within my right to say what I did. It's not a one-way street! If people or not going to respect other peoples opinion then why should they respect theirs? What facts have you said anyways? All it has been is about you building so many cars and how your business works and how you do things....how is that fact?? Everything else has just been insults and your thinking....how is that fact either? I know I have not stated any facts.....why should I? How does facts work into this? I don't really care about your business, I hate VW's but I'm not rubbing that in your face. I'd rather have a Skoda, but that is my opinion ok....not fact!
I'll end this like I began it....I LOVE the 2005 Mustang! I thought the old ones were good lookers, but this one is just sex on wheels!!

Respect other peoples opinion and you might get the same back!

I'm just on here to wind people like you up! This is not serious this is not life or death, it's just a chat forum! Get a grip on yourself buddy! My life does not revolve around this site unlike what seems a large chunk of yours is! You see I'm laughing right now because you were so guiable to get so involved into this, while this was something I wanted to do and did!!

Finally, we agree on something.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

No shit Sherlock. You're fairly observant.

Dabbling in mind reading now, are you? Wrong answer but better luck next time.

It seems so, but I don't really want you, just like your mother.

It looks more like you're here to wind yourself up, and doing a damn fine job I might add. An exclamation point after every sentence. Take a deep breath.

Then why are you loosing your mind?

I'm holding my jewels right now and typing one handed.

Then why is it so important to you to "win" this "contest". Is it because it'll give meaning to your worthless existence? I think so.

I'm very proud of you, you win todays boobie (named after you, Boob) prize. But wait a minute. In a previous post you said;

So which is it, were you doing this intentionally for fun or were you a victim who was defending himself? It certainly can't be both. Either way you cut it you have shown yourself to be someone with no integrity. Might I suggest the glow worm forum, you'll fit right in over there. Have a wonderful day.

as you have probably noticed i am not the biggest american car fan, and i say not bad, its better than the last one, maybe! BUT 300 horse power from a 4.6, i mean come on ford, you can surely do better than that, mazda can get 228 from a 1.3, and in these days which we are made to save petrol and the ozone...

posted by  Flying_Dane

actually, considering past performance, 300 is a damn good number
besides, this is the entry level V8 (and only for the first year)

tell me, how would you, in your infinite wisdom that surpasses all those engineers at Ford, get more power and have it behave nicely?

BTW - which 1.3L is this you speak of

posted by  asa67_stang

I don't really care to start defending a Mustang, but... You can't directly compare these two engines as far as power versus displacement. Why? Because it's that good old apples and oranges thing again. First, you're comparing a rotary to a reciprocating engine. Second, the Mustang will run all day on the shittiest gasoline you can find where the RX-8 requires 95 octane (where do you buy that in the states?). Last but not least, while the Wankel puts out substantial horsepower for it's size, it is absolutely lacking in torque, which is what makes a car fun to drive on the street. The Mustang engine develops more torque at idle than the RX-8 does at it's torque peak. The Mustang's STARTER MOTOR puts out almost as much torque as the RX-8 engine.

So... The next time you want to compare something, make it a reasonable comparison. By the way, screw saving petrol and the ozone.

posted by  vwhobo

Hear-here...

posted by  BavarianWheels

true true, i didnt actually think of that when i posted, meh. but i still reckon that 300 horse power from a 4.6 is a bit shabby. you cant get 95 octane in the states?

posted by  Flying_Dane

randomly you might find 93, highest you'll most likely find is 91
and even that is iffy everywhere

300 for a 4.6L, do you remember what the highest HP level for the 5.0L was?

manufacturers normally lie about their stated HP, they have since they've started making vehicles, they always will
look at the potential of it
if 300 was the total possible HP ever, that would be crappy, that's just the number the factory deemed would be acceptable for the people buying it

Then it might be time to give you the posters mantra. Repeat after me;

THINK, TYPE, POST.

Ford is making a lot of their cars look like like they did in the 60's and 70's 1st it was the Thunderbird. I do like the 2005 Mustang the engine is very nice the only thing I dont like is how the rear looks on it. Also the 2003-04 Mach 1 is very impressive as well. http://www.fordvehicles.com/images/2003/EN/photo/cars/mst_pgextpop4.jpg

The Mach 1 has a 4.6L 32 Valve V8 Engine with 305hp

Also has anyone seen the new GT?

The GT has a DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder, supercharged V-8 with 500hp
