Question about the 1998 V6 Camaro's...
My mom's friend has a 1998 V6 Camaro. It is in mint condition as she only drives ti around town with 30,000 miles. It has T-tops and dual exhaust with the 3800 II series. I was wondering what the stock power of this car was because it is not a regular V6 as it has dual but curved down exhaust. And feels like it has around 290 or so, stock which is very decent for a V6. I have looked at kelley blue book to see if i could find anything and other car sites, but I could not find anything on this package of a car. She claims remembering stock power was around 280-290 and it was a some-how kind of modified corvette engine. i was simply wondering about this as I will be getting a new car in a few years and this car seems great so I would like to know the specs if possible so I could look for one. Thanks
The only thing i can find is the 3.8L V6 with 200hp and 225ft/lbs torque. Are you sure its not the 5.7L 350 that has 275-310hp and 325-340ft/lbs torque? Or maybe the 5.7L 346 with 305-325hp and 335-350ft/lbs torque? I cant find any with a V6 with anymore then 200hp stock from factory.
Probably around only 220-230hp, I had a 3800 V6 in my 98 Bonneville SSEi, except it was supercharged and had a few things done to it. Its stock hp was around 300 at the flywheel so around 260 at the wheels. Your would probably only be making 185 at the wheels.
I'm positive it is a V6 but I know its producing decently over 200 horses.
Then somebody did some serious work on your V6, or you don't know what you're talking about.
I must be wrong then because it is all stock, it just feels more powerful than other V6 Camaro's I have driven, oh well thanks for the help
Maybe you drove the 160hp 3.4L '94-'95 Camaro. That explains why a 3.8L Camaro with about 215hp-220hp feels much faster.
Your right I jsu tstarted driving recently and my car is a 1994 firebird with a 3.4 and 160 stock horses i believe, I jsut thought that the dual exhaust v6 package of her 1998 had more power possibly.
