Engine swapping

I would like to know if a 1990 GMC 4.3L engine will work in my 1986 Chevrolet Pickup? The '90 is fuel injected and the 4.3L in my '86 is carburetored.

Will I be able to use the fuel injection if I don't have a brainbox in my Chevrolet truck? Or will I have to change the intake from my Chevy to the other motor?

Oh hell yeah, remember, GMC and Chevy are GM so that means that anything will fit :wink2:

Yes it will. Definatly. Thats one thing I like about GM cars, you could take almost any one of their engines and pop it into any given GM made car.

if it was me, i would just switch intakes, everything in the 86 is set up for carb, and you would have to do some work for the fuel injection. switchin intakes is easy might want to mark your dist though so when ya pull it out you will know about where it goes and can advance or retard it from there.

It shouldnt be a problem. You might have to use the wiring harness and ecm from the new engine if youre going to use the fuel injection
