Any one want to see me do it? :hi:
Hmmm, let me think about that for a while... Nope.
I will, but could you change the pic in your avatar?...It's giving us big-nosed people a bad name
ok, make a fiberglass shell of were you want it. What you are about to see
is a huge half ass layer of fiberglass.
I turned that layer into a mold. So here is what I did for the final shell. the one covered in tin foil and tape is the mold.
here is after 2 layers.
Now I am off to lay down 6 layers. 7:00, should be done around 12.
looking good man! keep us updated on this one, im looking at building my own shortly for my car, so that I can move the 12" around.
this might help some people that have 56k
Every one here knows how to make MDF Sub receesed mount rings right?
Honestly, I've never heard of them...but if it's just metal rings for mounting, then it sounds pretty straightforward...
metal?....MDF is wood....medium density fibreboard, is the actual name, if im not mistaken. Recessed rings allow you to mount the sub flush with the box...rather then having it stick out...
I think I can see it, but I wouldn't have a clue on where to begin making them...
hehe, he's the one with the camera, and apparently the time, so i'll let him do it lol
lol, this guy knows what he's talking about. :smoke: Yes, MDF is Medium
density fiberboard. I am useing 56k right now so I will get you some pics
friday when I am running at 100k's.
Yea, I got the time, I go to school with no job. Lots of spare time. To bad I can only work on it on the weekends. :ohcrap: damn divorced parents :fu:
thats awesome, good work dude, im planning on making my own box soon, its
gonna be 3 cubes, ported, for a 15" RE SX, me and my friend are gonna
freestyle it i guess. lol, but just incase can you show how to make
receesed mount rings please.
i always wanted to try fiberglassing but im too afraid i'd blow it and i dunno ruin my interior lol

From the first few posts, noone cares, but id like to take a look. Care to post some links to photos?
I already kno how to make fiberglass sub boxes, but i think its still interesting. i say keep goin lol :2cents:

Since when do you speak for everyone? Personally I've been following along and am interested in this, and obviously he is interested in this kind of thing and is wanting/willing to help show people how it's done. I actually congradulate him for his willingness to help.
Look at the few first posts. I would personally like to see it done myself.
Post up some new pics. I'd like to see the progress too.
First few posts? Since when does Hobos opinion count as more then one person? (as he was the only one in the first few to say he didnt' care).
For real that statement dint bother me to much, I knew a couple of you wanted to see this and it could possibly help you out, If I can help one person out on there sub woofer project then thats kick ass. If not then so be it. Mybe my next project will. who knows.

K, I need to get a pic of the ring I made. But here is how it go. The green line represents the bottom ring width. The red is the upper ring, the sub should slide right through it. I am going to make a nother one this weekend just for you guys.
i kno a site that has some tutorials about this stuff(fiberglass boxes, MDF rings) but im gonna let magot do it himself here unless he wants me to post it
Go for it, my work is slow,
