I have a 1997 Ford Taurus, 24v DOHC Duratec engine. My car is making a rattle sound loudest, when IDLING in Reverse or Drive AND as soon as I depress the gas pedal, the issue goes right away. This usually happens when the engine is still in a cold status. For example: when I drive home which is approximately 25 miles, I can barely hear the rattle. I am hoping it is just low transmission fluid and when the fluid warms up and expands, it is quieting the tranny. Any help?
If thats what you think you should check the tranny fluid levels.
