i was wondering what the difference (block wise) between a 1987 ford 800 flatbed and a older version of the 429 is? can they be made to be the same? would it mount the same as an older engine? we just got a truck in with the 429 in it and i want to put it in a ranger or maybe an old f100. my interchange wont do trucks any bigger than a f450.

Your 429 is a 385 series engine (how confusing), a generic Ford big block which was made from the late '60's till the late '90's. Check out these guys for some good info and more than I want to type here.
