It's listed incorrectly. Some ****tard put the Z24 badging on the car to appear cool. The VIN 3G1JH12F12S232440 checked comes up as the LS Coupe, which comes standard with the 2.2L DOHC Ecotec engine.

VIN Check Results:
VIN: 3G1JH12F12S232440
Year: 2002
Make: Chevrolet
Model: Cavalier LS Sport
Style/Body: 2 Door Coupe
Engine: 2.2L I-4 MPI DOHC
Country of Assembly: Mexico

I think it's a very different engine in Vauxhalls.....If anybody knows different, feel free to batter me, lol

it isnt different, its a GM engine designed in USA, all vauxhalls upwards from the last (Vauxhall-1995/96) Cavalier uses them!
mine is a X18XEV engine, but wikipedia (although sometimes unreliable) only have the 2litre details!
heres what found on mine.
First generation, features DOHC valvetrain driven by toothed belt and a cast-iron cylinder block with aluminum cylinder head.
1.8 L (1796 cc): 80.5 mm (3.17 in) bore, 88.2 mm (3.47 in) stroke, 10.5:1 compression, 115 hp (85 kW), 122 hp (90 kW) or 125 hp (92 kW) and 123 ft.lbf (167 Nm) of torque. Later versions features variable intake technology.
Family 1 Ecotec engines are used in:

1996-2003 Opel Tigra
Opel Corsa
Opel Astra
Opel Vectra
2003 Saab 9-3
2004 Chevrolet Viva
2005 Opel Zafira

What I was referring to was the fact that alot of the time, although the same manufacturer, engines are different in looks and capacity etc....It might be just the fact that our units are covered in plastic that masks their true identity....

i suppose so! (what do you mean about 'true identity'? in its 11 year period, my car hasnt had one major proble with its engine (as the AA tell me!)

Not sure what you mean there, lol. I meant that the plastic, although it looks good, masks what the engine really looks like. To be honest it's more so on newer lumps, the older ones (like in your Vectra) still look like engines

i thought when you said "It might be just the fact that our units are covered in plastic that masks their true identity"

Who cares about the Ecotec cause a 2002 is not Ecotec they werent produced until 2003

Actually the dohc 2.2 is not the ecotec 2.2, did the badges say ztype or z24 did the engine say ecotec, and 2002 should have either the 2.2 or 2.4 dohc
