I like the front end, but I can't stand the rear end. It just doesn't seem to fit the retro look of the front. The front looks like it's from the 1960's, and the rear looks like it's from 2020.

I quite like the look of the '05 "Mustange"....I think it brings back the purposefull looks of the classic 60's version, lets face it, the current version has never looked as menacing as the upcoming edition :hi:

posted by  Cliffy

the back reminds me of buick taillights :puke: they need to resize those taillights :screwy:
the front looks awesome tho

posted by  importluva

I agree that those rear lights could do with being scaled down a bit..I think they look a bit out of place on that car for some reason :ohcrap:

The GT-R version makes this one look so unbelievably ugly.. I prefer the more agressive looks of the GT-R and the fact it has a fully stripped out interior with roll cage and bucket seats..

posted by  R34RB30DETTV

funny how they call it GT-R, taking a cue from nissan.

posted by  importluva

Actually Ford made the GT-R Mustang back in the late 60's, nissan didn't make the GT-R (R32) skyline untill '88..!

posted by  R34RB30DETTV

well in that case, why the long gap. i havent heard of a gt-r mustang in the 90s.

posted by  importluva

Because Ford is digging up history.. Started it with the GT, then the GT-R mustang and now the new AC Cobra..

posted by  R34RB30DETTV

And it's all for the good as far as I'm concerned

posted by  Cliffy

Indeed it is.. I have to say i do like their new cars.. The new F150 included...! It is one PHATT truck..!!

posted by  R34RB30DETTV

yeah im digging the new fords...my dad says he might keep our BMW for a year and then trade it in for a new Mustang.

God damn.. How many cars do you have now? 50/60?

They do look excellent, and I'm sure they will sell quite well.

Sorry, I haven't read much into them though... :ohcrap:

I fully agree with you on this one.

And i personaly think the back looks amazing, the lights are rather larger than any other mustang, but it looks new and awesome !

Edit by Cliffy: Dustin, that last picture was far too big, I've edited your post so that you have to click on the links to see the pictures..hope ya dont mind!

The vents are very much from the early 70's stang, it does seem like they have joined up many years. I like the back end but worry about how much a conversion would cost for SVA regs, but i supose a limo job could be done and the indicators cut into the rear bumper.

what sort of selection of engines are they offering i would asume it would be a version of the 4.6 V8 and the V6. They dont ussally do a total rework of the body and the engine in the same year. I guess they might add some of the SVT and Mach 1 developments to the lower spec cars but if they are launching a GT R then it is unlikely as there wouldnt be much distinction.

If only there wernt such high import duties on cars then we might be able to afford to have one, couldnt move it as the fuel would be unbearable but look at it in its nice shinnyness. How much are they selling the GT R for? ~$38??

The depressing bit would be:

Cost in USA = $38,000
Import tax 22% = $46,360
Shipping and dock fees = $48,500
SVA complience = $49,800
Value Added Tax = $58,515
Registration = $58,585
MOT = $58,655
Road fund licence = $58,980

So now we have paid $19980 to the goverment and a bit for export and labour we get to drive our nice new car.

but and this is a BIG BUT!

Lets say it averages 23 mpg(imperial) and travel 15000 miles in the first year that means we use about 2960 litres of fuel in that year they take ~13pence a litre in VAT (sales tax) ($0.23/ litre or $0.86/ us gallon) an then 47.1 pence a litre road duty ($3.12/ us gallon) so then we pay £1780 in fuel duty and VAT. Thats $3115 to the govement to drive our 15000 miles.

Then say your 25 with 4 years no claims, living in the suburbs, thats £2500 to insure it which means the goverment take 5% insurance premium duty which is another £125 = $220

In the first year thats $23215 in tax! Imagine that! and thats before any depriciation, maintaince, insurance etc.

You know cliffy i think we should rebel!

You guys crack me up! You're using the STYLING exercise to base your opinions on! The actual '05 mustang is already rolling around!

The taillights on the ACTUAL car are much smaller, just like the ones on the '65-70 versions.

Persoanlly, I LOVE the '05 Mustang, and I wish I could afford a new car right now.

very interesting...for the hockey games, shouldn't they change the mustang comm. to the new one ?? not the last years modle ?

Ford has done a good job overall. !

posted by  Dustin

You're not going to see the commercials for the new ones yet, as they won't get to the dealers until the end of the summer. The last of the '04s rolled off the assembly line last month. In fact, the last of the '04s were teh last mustangs to be built at the factory in Dearborn that made very mustang since teh first of the '64 1/2 models, and was Fords oldest plant. The new Mustangs will be built at the plant Ford built with Mazda in Flat Rock (that had built MX6s and Probes before). It's a much more modern plant, so assembly quality should be way up. Since the last of the '04s just came off the line, the ads for them will still be around, in order to sell them. In fact, it's predicted that there will be a shortage of '04 Mustangs before the '05s hit the dealers.

The pics I linked to in the dieselstation link were biiiig. The other ones were no bigger than anything else I've posted here since I got here, and most were smaller...

Sorry, what are your limits now?

posted by  ChrisV

America will never have james bond, the goverment would need tact first!

Take a look at the 'top ten production cars' thread to see what is a nice size piccy, your pics in this thread weren't excessively big, infact, only one was too big, but It wouldn't have looked right if I only linked one of them

lol!

I can barely see the pics in the "top ten" thread. They look like the tiny thumbnails Google makes before you click on them...

Who here is still on a 28.8k dial-up?
