III Salão Internacional do Automóvel e Motociclo Clássico e de Época
From the 1st the 5th of October, 2005, the third edition of Autoclássico Porto 2005 (Classic and Vintage Automobile and Motorcycle Show) will be held in Exponor (Oporto’s international fair).
After the start of such initiative in 2003, Autoclássico Porto has been steadily growing year after year. The first edition, held in October 2003, had a hundred exhibitors and could count more than 25000 visitors from all over Portugal and Spain. The second edition of this show, in October 2004 just confirmed the success of the previous year, boasting more than 150 exhibitors showing their products to be greeted by more than 35000 visitors during the four days of the classic and vintage automobile motorshow in Exponor.
A warm welcome by the public, the positive opinions and reviews that appeared in the specialised press and the sheer number of commercial operations resolved amid the framework of this classic and vintage motorshow guarantee the success of Autoclássico. All those positive features have been also reflected in the interest showed by exhibitors who want to be present at this meeting point.
The third edition of Autoclássico will make possible the definitive consolidation of this event, which is on the way of becoming the most important commercial exhibition of classic and vintage cars in Spain and Portugal.
The development of the motorshow will be in charge of Eventos del Motor, a company with wide experience and a deep knowledge of the business. This company has been responsible for the organisation of the Motorshows of Vigo, Seville, Valencia, Saragossa and Málaga among others; as well as the Salón Nacional de la Moto (National Motorcycle Exhibition) in Jerez, the travelling exhibition “El Automóvil del Futuro” (Future cars), etc. all motor-related events standing out among their peers in Spain. Eventos del Motor will count with the invaluable cooperation of Exponor to start this motorshow.
Last year, the motorshow used five pavilions of the fairground (37.000 m2), but this year the surface assigned to the exhibition could grow further and so could the activities, since the interest among motorcycle and car exhibitors is great. At the same time, the need to enlarge the “marketplace” area, a major point of interest for visitors during the previous two editions, could play a role in the mentioned enlargement.
With the goal of attracting new visitors, the organisation have plans to develop once again a strategic promotion and publicity campaign in Portugal and Spain, specially in the most interesting geographical areas. Bearing that in mind, an Advertising Campaign and a Communication Plan will be developed. Presentation to the national and specialised press, a communication department constantly in contact with the press, the drafting and sending of press releases on the developments of the motorshow, etc. are all planned, among other actions.
Oporto is a most interesting place for the development of classic and vintage automobile commercial exhibitions, as well as for related businesses (motor parts, accessories, insurance companies, restorers...). It was clearly seen during the two previous editions. Moreover, this put together with the great interest that exists in Portugal just back the success of this motorshow; especially bearing in mind its area of influence.
In such sense, drawing a radius of 150 km. with Oporto on its centre we can encompass a population of about 4 million inhabitants. Add to those the almost 3 million inhabitants of Lisbon, (just 2 hours away by car) and the closeness and good communications with Spain.
The commercial side of the show will be backed by a wide programme of sport and entertainment activities all set to make the visit to the show a most pleasant experience. Towards this goal there will be competitions, meetings and events as in the previous editions. An example of those could be the “III Motor Show Autoclássico”, an activity where many professional drivers from different areas will get together to offer a show never seen in the North of Portugal. This Motor Show will dispose of two of the pavilions of Autoclássico Porto 2005 and will have a spectacular racing circuit.
