I have this cool clock that I want to use but don't know if its 6/12v. Any
ideas what its from? It says NEW HAVEN (clock?) AND WATCH on back and MADE
IN U.S.A. on the dial.
Thanks

to me it looks like a clock off 50-60s cars

Not an easy one, but I would guess buick

A simple google search yeilded this:
This gives you a good idea of the age, Which if it was from a car, which i
assume you are suggesting since this is a car forum, would probably mean it
was 12 volts, since (i believe) most cars in that time period were 12
volt.
Edit: I would be interested to see what the back side looks like, and where
the wires are suposed to connect.

thanks for the answers, google never even occurred to me. heres what the
back looks like..

Most cars were 6 Volt until the late 1940's - early 1950's. Most cars were
12V by 1955. Buick began the transition in 1953 with their Skylark with
everything else they built being 12V in 1954
I don't know how to verify what voltage the clock in the picture was
designed for.

one option would be to put 6 volts to it and see if it keeps time. I am
assuming that the body would be the negative side, as it looks like there
is only one terminal? Feel free to correct be again Tbax, but i think on
most cars the body was the negative?

Looks exactly like this

Buick...and this

All of their clocks look similar, but those two were the closest. Check out
the link to the second one, it has a picture of the back too, to see if it
matches yours.
Isn't there any other writing on the back? (Like the date of production)
chris_knows
yep, thats it! the back is the same its got 9165(5or3) which i assume is
the date code? thanks all for your help
r.mac
Yeah, that would have to be September 16, 1955 or 1953.
