I was looking at a 1993 Mazda 626 in excellent condition with 116,000
I was wondering how many miles a 626 lasts?
I'm sure it depends on the previous owner's pampering (or lack thereof)
If you are handy with car mechanics...be brave and bite the bullet when it is handed to you.
i've seen 626's run forever so maybe ull get lucky. like Bavaian said, it all depends on the care of the car in question. my dad's Mercury Villager has like 120,000 moles on it and its in great condition.
Must look like a mole hill...
no actually it looks really good...my dad just had some rust treated and it looks better.
Your 626 has three major liabilities, two partially related. Otherwise
they're good cars if treated well as BW said.
1. Weak lifters (actually hydraulic valve lash adjusters)
2. Weak oil pumps (keep your oil clean, at that mileage I would recommend an oil additive)
3. Assuming it's automatic trans, the shift cable
Other than that it's they're solid 200k cars.
On a car of that size 116,000 miles really isn't that bad, infact It's about arerage for the car and year. Mazda engines may not be the most reliable Jap engines but you can expect at least another 100,000 miles out of it yet on that engine! Infact chances are It'll rust before the engine dies. :D
to be honest with you thats a stupid thing to say, the range is huge depending on the owner and other things
