Nissan SX series...

You must be getting the wrong information 57ock. Here's what a 300ZX site had to say about inaccurate statistics -
"The controvercial article in all it's glory. Ultimately it must have just been a seriously sick TT..... 1/4 mile in 15.8 and 0-100kph in 7.7? That's slower than a well running NA! What's wierd is that about a year ago the same magazine tested a TT and got the right numbers... high 5's for the 0-100kph etc. Short memories?"
I'll admit that I shouldn't have called the 300ZX a 'supercar', as it is a matter of opinion. As I've looked through various sources, one magazine said, "Real supercar for supercar small change", while another price guide said, "Would be supercar misses the mark in comparison with the best big Japanese sports coupes, but it's muscular, well equipped, good value and generally reliable." When it came to the 93-96 Supra, the same price guide said, "Amazing twin-turbo supercar looks like a sci-fi space vehicle and goes like one, too. The huge rear spoiler helps to give brilliant grip and handling, though the ride is very firm. Rare and obviously very expensive to run."
So we're both agreed that the Jaguar XJ220 is a Supercar then P Comparing that to a 1.7 16v Ford Puma would be alot more black and white lol

I'm pretty sure that the 300ZX that I'm talking about does 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. It's also a V6, which is smoother than a four-cylinder.
I see your point about the Skyline name being around longer than the 300ZX. I said that the 300ZX was the predecessor to the Skyline because in a short review in the back of a magazine that I refer to, it reads -
"Before the Skyline landed there was this."

Depends On what country it was delivered too. Jap spec is different to the Euro editions.
I thought the 4wd Bluebird Turbo was powered by a sr20det. Not ca18det.

Yep the 300zx has smoother power. But fairlady TT is a very heavy car.

Skyline had a few performance models from the 60's and 70's
300zx predecessors were the z cars. 260z etc

57OCK, seeing as you seem to be enthusiastic about Nissans, could you tell me the power output, 0-60 time and top speed of the 80s Nissan Bluebird 1.8 turbo?
I'd appreciate it if anyone can give me that information as I've browsed the net, but all I've got is statistics for the 4WD version with a sub 7-second 0-60 time.

I consider a 300ZX a 'supercar' and not a Silvia because my definition of a 'supercar' is as follows -
A coupe that has a 0-60 time of less than 6 seconds, a top speed of over 150mph, RWD or 4WD and at least a straight six engine.

I was refering to the European edition of the Bluebird. My Dad had one when I was alot younger, which was when I didn't give a shit about cars. He says that he once got it to 125mph but it could have easily done 130mph. It was the same insurance group as a 2.0 16v Ford Focus Zetec is in England, so I'm wanting to know if it has a sub 9-second 0-60 time. If it does accelerate faster than the Focus, I'll see if I can find a good one if I decide against a 4x4 for my next car.

S15 200sx with late model motor tops out 265km/h. Which is a bit more then 150mph. 300zx doesn't do sub 6 0-100km/h tho.
300zx times don't come close to the Skyline GTR which does 5 second 0-100km/h.

Anyway to me a super car is. A car that can do 5 second 0-100km/h
and a low 13 second 1/4 mile. A standard Fairlady doesn't come close to those times. Do it up and and it would be a super car. Any car could tho.
Plus its about power to weight. A 300zx is a tank. Skyline is a lot lighter, so are silvias.

Anyway, If its to be called a super car. It must be the slowest super car ever. So sound better been called a sports car, same with a s15 200sx\silvia :)

I’ve been waiting for someone to answer your question myself, but seeing as nobody’s answered it, I’ll tell you what I know on this topic.
The 100NX has a 1.6 16v, 89bhp engine. It’s just a baby. It has a 0-60 time of 10 seconds and a top speed of 118mph.
The old 200SX has a 1.8 16v, 166-169bhp engine. It’s a proper coupe whereas the latest 200SX isn’t as sleek. It gets from 0-60 in under 7 seconds with a top speed of 140mph.
The 240SX is similar to the 200SX but it has a 2.4-litre engine.
The 180SX, Bluebird 1.8 turbo, Silvia and Sil80 are all also similar to the 200SX.
The latest 200SX has a 2.0 16v turbocharged, 197bhp engine. This one does 0-60 in 7 seconds and it has a top speed of 146mph.
The 300ZX has a 3.0 V6, twin turbocharged, 280 bhp engine. That’s the predecessor to the Skyline and it’s obviously better than all the cars above as it’s the true supercar of the bunch. 0-60 takes 5.5 seconds and its top speed is 155mph.
I believe that all the cars that I've mentioned are RWD apart from the 100NX, which is thought of as a hairdresser's car and the Bluebird 1.8 turbo, which is more mundane than the Silvia with about 20bhp less power.

The s15 Silvia has 184kws (250hp) and is faster down the 1/4 mile then the 300zx. Its a lot liter and handles far better. Thats the main reason why they seldom race 300zx in Japan and Australia.

300zx isn't the predecessor to the skyline. As the Skyline dates back to the 50's. The Skyline name was never started by Nissan/Datsun. Nissan/Datsun purchased the company who made Skylines. Think it was prince motor co. A very gay name :)

300zx does a 6.5 0-60mph & 14.2 1/4 mile Vs s15 6sec 0-60mph 13.7 1/4 mile.

It's kinda off the subject, but isn't the Sil-Eighty just a 180SX with an S13 Silvia front clip(hence Sil-Eighty)? I'm not aware of it actually being a factory model, but correct me if im wrong. Also, the 300ZX is not much heavier than an R34 Skyline GT-R, both could stand to lose some weight.

I like all the SX models myself :)

I think the 300zx is better, but may i say that i think the new 350z's are ugly.

i was reading about this, as best i could while lookin through the japanese sites, the 350z is just the new 300zx. (pretty sure about that) cuz they called the 250 z the fairlady, and the 300zx is the fairlady too, so i put two and to togather and figured theyre the same
