what is short shifting? how do you double clutch? is there any other techniques for shifting?

Short shifting is when you skip a gear and go to the next one. Double Clutching (http://www.car-forums.com/talk/showthread.php?t=4784&highlight=Double+clut ching). No techniques except when you're coming to a stop light just put it in neutral and coast unless it turns green, then you double clutch

Double clutching = waste of effort.........unless your driving a tractor trailer.

For downshifting it's not. Heel-and-toe baby. :hi:

short shifting is just the distence between the gears when u shift
u put a short shifter on to minimize the distance between gears
so you can shift faster. and double clutching is only needed when
you have to slow down really fast. U dont do going up unless you
are watching the movies again :2cents:

Sure ....double clutching can come in handy racing in a lot of curves....otherwise see my post above.

Nope,

Short shifting as I've always used the term, and heard it used, refers to not winding a gear out all the way. Like when you're drag racing it may be beneficial for you to start in first and "short shift" to second (meaning you only used a small portion of first gear), because you may have too much wheel hop in first, or your car may wind first out so fast it's not worth it. Better to just get the car moving and short-shift to the next gear applying all available power to gears with a taller ratio.
