Does anyone have one of these?

Are they worth the money? Do they actually help you go faster? Basically is it a worthwhile mod to get? And what's the difference between the 40 dollar one and the 80 dollar one?

They don't help you go faster, just to change gears faster.

$40 = shifter
$80 = adaptor to fit it to different cars/trans.

Isn't the point of changing gears faster to make you go faster?

Lol, I think he means that it doesn't make more HP and torque :wink2:

Well duh, I knew that.

No, it will not increase speed at all. It will increase acceleration, but not speed. I suppose you could say that that means you are "going faster". That's just not how I read it, sorry :ohcrap:

Itll increase your acceleration if thats what youre talking about.

short shifters will grind your tranny

Yes, I meant faster acceleration, not speed if you wanna get technical.

Anyways, if its gonna grind my tranny screw, I wont get one.

i havent got a grind on my tranny yet and i have a short shifter....maybe it just depends on the application......

That was some harsh sh!t..... someone was reaching out for help and you cruelly slapped them in the face. shame, shame
was kind of funny though.

A short shifter shortens your gear changes.

Eh, what can I say, I'm good at that

my mate has a short shifter on his statesman, no grinding of the trans... or anything bad..

only problem he's had is keepin' rubber on his rims, lol.

posted by  HyundaGuy

how does it make it faster, though? does it make it so you can let the clutch out faster, or something?
.. or maybe it's just so you can actually shift faster b/c of the design of a short-shifter?

posted by  odds

Supposed to reduce the distance you move the shifter by 30% or something like that.
