NEWB HELP!!! Buying and installing a CD Player in my 1995 Accord LX Sedan???
Okay, I basically know nothing about cars let alone installing a new cd
player. I was wondering if anyone out there, preferably anyone who has or
does own an accord, knows what the dimensions a cd player must be to fit in
my 1995 Honda Accord LX Sedan?
This is my first time ever buying a CD player for a car and attempting to install it myself. I'm planning to just have it hooked up to my stock speakers, so nothing complicated. How would I go about buying a CD player to fit well in my Accord? And when I do, how easy will it be to install? Like will I need any additonal parts?
I already visited Crutchfield.com to get an idea of some CD players that they said would fit and work in my Accord. I bet there are tons of more options out there, I just need someone to point me in the right direction. I'm looking for a reliable, affordable CD player that is CDR and CD-RW compatible and under $70. Any help would be great.
most cd players will fit in your dash. Youre not going to get much for under 70. For 100 you would have alot more options. Just go to a car audio store and take a look at some different models. Personally I like alpine. Ive had 3 different alpine stereos and they sound great.
Thanks man. Yeah, I actually have seen some Alpines and Kenwoods that I like. I'll probably end up getting one of the two. I'll let you know how everything works out.
If you wanted to buy online you could probably find something cheaper than in a store. Just have to shop around
aight first of all thats cool u have a 95 lx sedan, thats the exact same as me, also you wont find anything worth buying for 70, mine as well spend another few and buy something decent for like 130. a good strategy is to either ask thunder or dodger or if u wanna find ur own, just look on the internet and compare specs and once u find something u like buy it from ebay. thats the best way.
It's easy to install, just buy a mounting kit and wiring harness. $70 will
get the worst head units on the market. Dont go that cheap on a HU. Spend
at least $130-$150 on a DECENT one... I recommend these...
No Pana or Kenny for me :) But if I was to go with any one of the ones
mentioned, it would be the Clarion, then the Pioneer, then the Alpine.
For the love of god, don't chintz out on a deck - I spent 300$ on my deck, and I'm looking at a 600$ deck for my next setup...My 300$ Pioneer smokes my buddies 130$ Sony in all aspects!...
All 3 of my decks have been alpine. The first 2 were $300 and the third was $550. Even the cheap alpines kick sonys ass. If you really like music dont get something cheap.
i have a pioneer and with alpine speakers. I have the 80mp with 60 watts output. My Accord sounds so nice. Everyone who gets in loves that its never distorted. Lucky i work at Best Buy so i got it all and installed for under $500...i would prob cost your around a grand :2cents:
If you haven't changed the stock stereo reciever unit make sure you know it's security code. Once you connect the CD player you will need to know it in order for it to work.
Thanks for all the input guys. I've extended my budget to max $150. Im just
looking for something to hold me over for now, so nothing special. It's
gonna be hooked up to my stock stereos so the sound will be limited. I only
need it to play CDs, sound somewhat good, and not break on me in a couple
of days. I'll probably even end up selling the unit with my car or even
sell the unit to invest in a higher end unit in the future.
Honda man, I was wondering what you meant by the security code on the stock unit? Where can I locate that?
I'll be shoppin around and most likely end up buying a head unit online. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Thanks again
It isn't printed anywhere...and I'm not exactly sure how you can find the
code. Fortunately for me the previous owner of my car had written the code
down in the radio section of my owner's manual. If it's not there...ask a
shop or dealer how to find it...
If that doesn't work, you'll either have to live without a CD player or get a new unit, because without the code no radio function will work (AM, FM, tape, CD).
Is that a one time thing? b/c when i got my accord it had a cheap pioneer hu in it and in june i replaced it. I didn't install it since i get a good deal at best buy. but they had no problems with a security code.
Thanks Hondaman, I'll be sure to further investigate that.
I have a question for any 94-97 Accord owners. Which dash kit did you think best fit your Accord? I'm looking for the best fitting/looking dash kit for my Accord. Here are two that I have found so far:
Tweeter (http://www.tweeter.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1326725&cp=&keywords=Me tra+Honda&searchId=5401510446&parentPage=search)
Circuit City (http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/89870/rpem/ccd/productDetailReview.do# tabs)
If you know of any good dash kits, preferably in stores offline (so I can just buy and pick it up right away), please share.
I dunno...not so sure about the LX...question for both of you. On the stock unit, does it have a red blinking light on when the car is turned off?
If youre installing an aftermarket deck you shouldnt need any security
codes. I thought that was only on replacing the factory unit.
If you have a ultimate electroncs a dash kit is like 10 bucks. Almost any car audio store should sell them. Best buy, circuit city, walmart
Best Buy has it for like 10 bucks i think. Thats where i got mine and i
No idea..when i bought it the guy before me had a crappy hu in it
Nope, adding in a CD player will make it necessary, that is, if he is not
replacing the factory unit.
Oh, I see then no, yours wouldn't. The factory unit has the code in it.
The newer panasonic decks are the best I've come around in for years. They arent an Eclipse esque deck, but they are certainly better decks than the newer Pioneer, Alpine, and Kenwood decks. It has much cleaner pre-outs than the newer Pioneer premier (the pana 5v 60ohm vs. premier 6.5v 100ohm) and Alpine decks wont go above 4v pre-outs... I just never liked Kenwood decks. They look weird and are harder to navigate I find. Plus the panasonic decks i have found to have no reliability issues like the newer pioneer decks seem to have with their faceplates.
kenwood sucks, thats all i have to say, and i can back that up, my car used to have kenwood and it suckd balls, my friend bought his car with a kenny in it and it suckd, kenwood just plain ol sucks,
Ive had kenwood and panasonic and hated both of them. I also had a aiwa with the motorized flip down face and the face got stuck closed and I couldnt get my cd out. The only deck I would get is an alpine. Its the best brand out there IMO
No doubt about it Alpine makes a solid deck (most of the time...hearing some new problems with the 9833). I've only dealt with the newer Panasonic decks (large blue display), a 9800U, 9701U and 8400U. All have been excellent and never a single problem. They are easy to navigate, have more features than most decks and has a large display.
