I dont even think I have ever posted pics here... anyway... I found a few
pics the other day... so I figure I shared...
night shot, oh yeah!
old exhaust & tires...

with some friends
I had a greddy Type S in this pic
more pics on next post...
I love this pic
This is the way she looks today... including the new park plug cover from AAM LOL
dont say it... yes I know I need to lower this bitch!
I just fixed my hood... it used to be a little off... ;)
Nothing like a night cruise with friends...
very nice 3000GT, what turbo comes on that 6G72?
Pretty sweet car, how is she in the quarter mile?
If you read his mods thread he did a 12.3 at 15psi.
From your list of mods it seems like it's one serious piece of kit you have got.
This pic looks so surreal. Nice car.
He has to run his turbo at 15psi to get into the 12s....? Thats pretty bad.
Not if he swapped the twins for a big single. Long spool time.
I would have left it a twin. Why take out one and make it a single? :screwy: You have more lag that way. If he had 2 running at 8 psi each he would be in the 10s, or at least low 11s.
Same reason Supra owners swap twins out for singles. Big under the hood numbers.
Im thinking theyre just scared of a little rear wheels spin.
At 1200 hp I dont think theyre afraid of wheel spin. :orglaugh:
Very nice VR4.
Theoretically, if your car was twin turbo, it would have more hp because you would be getting more air to the engine.
Not necessarily. Especially not in a sequential setup. If the bigger turbo provided more boost than the twins combined, than it would make more air. It also matters what boost its running and how much the turbos can run.
a stock 3000GT VR4 or Stealth RT/TT come with twin 9b turbos... they are
pretty much the smallest turbo set up you can do... LOL they are pretty
I have twin 15G turbos... they are good for 650hp to engine... thats why they are call DR650Rs... DR is the company that makes them... the R is for the new redesign... in other word a better wheel... anyway... DR650s are can hold 24 psi to redline... and have proven to make 500 all wheel horse power...
My car is still running a little un-tune... so yeah its not making the power it should... also my set up is good for mid to low 11s... with a good launch... but enough bench racing... LOL, so far its a 12.3 car... so thats what I posted... just give me a few more days... until I finish working out a few bugs...
also why not a big single? well... one thing is for sure... $$$$ going so in these cars is very very expensive... and I would have to change my entire setup... and Im not willing to do so... But I am thinking about getting a set of headers and changing my turbos once again... this time put a set of ported 18G turbos... each of those turbos can make about 400 hp and I know a guy with less mods than me doing 10s right now with them... so we will see what happens... right now my main thing is to get all the bugs worked out before changing anything...
Anyway... for who ever mention something about lag... my current turbos are pretty much lag-less... only in first gear I have a little bit of lag... but thats about it.... these turbos hit full boost by 3500 rpms.... and on a highway pull... they are pretty much instant... :D
the 18gs Im thinking about... will def have more lag... I hear they hit full boost at 4200 rpms... which I dont care losing low end... as long as my traps get better ;) cuz in the end... thats really what matters....
I ran a 12.3 @ 109 (I had about 23 counts of knock in the run, and my ecu was pulling timing like crazy, reason why my trap was so low and car wasnt as fast)
but I would be happier to run a 12.5 @ 135 :D that would be sweet... Anyway... thanks for the nice comments guys...
Nice car dude.
3000GT's are really nice cars made by Mitsubishi...gotta love that car! too
bad its HEAVY :ohcrap: especially the VR-4... but i personally dont
like the SL 3kGTs tho (RWD)
O and GreekWarrior, I really like the quote! ...
"I drift not because it is a quicker way around a corner, but it is the most exciting way" - Keiichi Tsuchiya
Haha thanks, one of Tsuchiya's main quotes which basicly sums up drifting.

Sorry...i meant FWD... when refering to the SL 3kGT's
LOL I tried saying something about that yesterday... but for some reason
everytime I would hit submit reply the screen would freeze... huh?
Anyway... yes VR4s are heavy... but remember they are Grand Touring Cars... not sports cars like a RX7 or Vett... (dont even say Supra because that is also a grand touring car... and its also heavy... but people dont seem to care too much about it... (200-300 lbs ligher than a vr4))
and yes... FWD sucks ass... specially with a car as heavy as a 3kgt... I personally <3 RWD... but nothing feels as good on the road (idot proof) than AWD...
hey i'd love to have the set up from that vr4 in my old excel, that'd be
more the mint.
with a 4g63, stock engine with the vr4 gearbox (galant vr4, not 3kgt vr4), it's capable of low 12's, high 11's.
so with a 6g72 w/ the 3kgt box, and brakes/suspension/lsd, it'd be low 10's, high 9's.... mint....
I'll gladly give up AWD and 300lbs to a VR4 from my RWD 300ZXTT
i'd gladly give up a shyt load more weight for a 20valve turbo ae86.
i have a question ...is there even room in a vr4 engine bay for a big single??...one of my friends had one and it looked pretty cramped
yeah, there's enough room for a T78.
Go right ahead, I dont fit in a little Corolla.
Ditto. Very cool picture of a very nice car.
im 6'4 and ive managed to fit myself into those. even an old late 80's tercel. only car i havent fit into which i have bothered trying was a 98 or so Miata.
interestingly enough, meanwhile the whole idea of 5 valves per cylinder sounds good, its still not proven (with 100% correct proof) that it has an advantage over 4 valves per cylinder. i dont remember in details the whole comparison atm, but i know that the 3 valves that lie on the intake side had some problems with being able to fit properly and actually gain any extra cover area that may result in any gains. i bet chrisv knows the deep facts on this.
no room, but you can make some ;)
I know a few members from 3si with big singles... basically their setups includes getting rid of all the vac lines, heat shields, egr shit, the mass (going with speed density), and moving the battery to the back... that pretty much gives you enough room for anything... even a big T90! if you wanted a huge turbo that you would NEVER be able to spool LOL...
I would gladly give up AWD and 700 lbs to go with a Z06 ;) forget turbos... instand power... ok scratch the forget turbos part... TT the z06 :hi:
I'm 6'5 240 (my heigh comes from my torso too...), too big
Too bad the cheapest Z06 is still 3x what I paid for my 300zxtt
Anytime. Thats a sweet car.
Nice 3000GT VR4. Reminds me of mine 92 VR4.
very sweet ass car!
once again thanks guys...
a few things... Im in the process of upgrading the turbos once again... its between a set of ported 18g (TD05) or big EVOIII (16g TD05)... The only thing holding me back right now... trying to find a good pair of headers for a good price... cuz everyone wants an arm and a leg... and adaptor plates are also just as expensive, but dont flow as well... but there is a shop working on a good kit right now... so it should be done in less than a month...
in the mean time... time to put the FPR and new fuel filter... :)
oh, here is my ghey dyno sheet for those that havent seen it...
i hit spark blow out on the last run... but you can compare the hp number to the run where I hit 437 and see how much more power I was making... also look at my max torque on that run... 473.7X :D
the 437 run was at 20 psi
the last run was at 22 psi

That's f*cking crazy!!! How does she handle though?
like a dream... ;) VR4s are the very easy to drive... you can say they are
idiot proof... in fact... driving this thing down the strip is as easy as
driving her on the street... I could pretty much hold her with one
autox'ng is a little harder... since she is so heavy... but I still can pull the same numbers as a 911 turbo... but we (vr4s and porsche) cant seem to touch does damn miatas... LOL those are go-karts on crack!
I remember taking to my 300ZXTT to one auto-x event when it was fairly stock, before suspension/wheel/tires mods. Just had my full exhaust and intake (so about 300whp). I was posting similar times to that of a Mazdaspeed Miata with an exhaust, intake, boost controller and springs. I was pissed.
i wish my gf would let me get those power levels, but she made me promise i
wouldnt go past 430rwhp...... not on a car i will be using to cruise around
the island and such at least.....
ill buy another supra later and see if i bother passing the 500hp mark
btw, sundown, dont be an ass and talk more ffs
