Just got back from search for used cars on the streets and have come back
with some questions about Acura Legends. First off, I think they look nice.
All of the 1990 Legends come standard with a 2.7L V6, 160hp/162lbft. They
~3000lbs and have 4W ABS. Basically, I need to know how reliable they are for driving daily. One car had 189,000 miles on it, I think. How much longer would a car with that many miles on it last? Even if it's in great condition. What do you guys think?
well i know that legends are nice cars an they are very reliabe. My dad had one with 169k miles on it and had no problems. I think that they will run untill 200k without any problems. However, try to find something a with lower miles than 189k...
i wanted to get a legend, but i heard from a guy that had it that it had some gasket problems but its your choice.
That means he didn't take proper care of it or it had high mileage :wink2:
So 189 is definitely too high.. even if you have enough money to replace a few things?
What happened to the eclipse?
We had a mechanic check it out, and it just wasn't worth buying.. :\
Plus, it had a huge dent from a pole on the passenger panel, so that would've cost a lot to fix. There were just lots of minor things that kept us from buying it.. + the engine.
This Acura does look very well maintained, though, and I just want to know what I'd have to do to keep it running for another 70k miles.
Wow look at the above post, a 420a eclipse had a bad engine. That cant be true!
Legends are Acura's historic cars. They are what put Acura on the map. These things are rock solid reliable and are very comfortable. 189,000 miles is a bit high, but it will last to at least 300,000 if you maintain it well. I know doctors who earn well into the 6 digits and still drive their old 92 or 94 Legends because they just love them. IF you can though try and find a 91-up Legend, they had the larger 3.2L V6 w/200+hp. In 1993 they got bumped from 200hp to 230hp and you can get a 6spd tranny with that 230hp motor. They are loads of fun.
Thanks for the help, Tbird.
I'm really on a limited budget and after all, it will be my FIRST car.
This '90 Legend IS in fabulous shape, so I'm sure it will be fine. After all, I don't wanna be getting a speeding ticket my first year of driving. ;)
Again, thanks for the help.
