hey anybody, is the air filter assembly (the box, hose, etc.) the same size on the 1992 prelude s as the 1992 prelude si? cause i'm missing that right now, and i found a place that has it for an s, and i have an si. will it fit anyways?
I don't think so. Your Si has an H23, the base S had a SOHC F22. They're two completly different motors. However, that doesn't mean you can't "make it" fit.
Would it change the amount of airflow at all?
It's hard to say. That all depends on the design of the airbox. I'm not sure what the stock H23 airbox looks like but I can tell you that my sister's stock F22 airbox looks a bit , well restricted. The only real problem is if it will fit. I'm not sure if the piping will be long enough, or if the airbox will be too big, or if he'll have clearance issues, etc? NTM the stock F22 airbox was a pain in the ass to get to. Not sure if that's the case with the H23.
I was just wondering cause I think the SI is the more powerful version..? And if so I don't think you'd want to change the amount of air coming in or the temperature of it or whatever
Well heres the thing... The S came with either a flimsy F22A that was in the 4th gen Accord and 1stGen Odysey, or a DOHC VTEC version which had an H22A. This is the one you wanted (better engine, bigger brakes). The H22A model put out 190 hp @ 6800 rpm, 158 ft·lb @ 5500 rpm. The Si had an H23A which was also DOHC but non-VTEC and only put out 160 hp @ 5800 rpm, 156 ft·lb @ 5300 rpm. Since he didn't specify which Type S he got his intake box from, I assumed it was a base model as it's the easier of the two to find.

LOL, you're too kind!
Wait, so the lower model could be either less powerful or more powerful than the higher model?
Yup!!! Go Honda!
