hey, does anybody know how to take out the REV limiter on a prelude? thanks
Dear Lord...do I even want to ask?
cause, as far as i can tell, the thing gets all its horsepower the higher it goes.
WHOA WHOA WHOA STOP RIGHT THERE... your Prelude's motor is not built for 9K RPMS. It's torquey (sp?) down low for a reason, it's not very Rev happy. :wink2:
thanks, i just don't know a whole lot about preludes (i'm a ferrari fan), this is my first car and all. by the way, does anybody have any EASY hp improver ideas that won't put a hole in my back pocket? it's a 1992 prelude Si, so it's got a 2.3L I-4 getting over 170 hp. i don't know the exact horses right now, cause we bought it from a chevy dealership who bought as a trade-in car, and one of the previous owners was obviously racing it (i.e.- Monster tach, carbon fiber hood, and IThink it has bigger cams, cause the sealant around the valve cover is not original, so we think someone took it off and put on bigger cams. any suggestions that are inexpensive are much appreciated. Thanks.
Have you ever seen a Dyno graph? Google one under "images". I don't know of any car that hits it HP or torque peak at the rev limiter. Even if it did add power (it wouldn't), it would be a BAD idea. There's a reason Honda put it on there, and a reason it's called a RED line. Red means danger.
