Have u ever been pulled over, and given a citation just because u put some 50 state legal mods on :banghead: ? Hit me up w/ ur responses!!

I was pulled over in my first 4th gen Accord I had with a turbo h22a... something he didn't like about no-cat and just straight 3" pipe from the turbo back with no mufflers... :) Said it was 'too loud' so that forced me to get a 2.5" Y-Pipe and two 4" turbo N-1 mufflers. Didn't get a ticket though. Of course no cat and straight piping violates two laws. Emissions and noise level.

I was pulled over by the same cop 3 times in a week. He pulled me over the first time because he said my headlights were too bright when i had stocks so i got a smart mouth and since my car is easily distinguished then he decided to hunt me down every chance he got. He gave me a ticket for going 3 over the spped limit and for making a right turn with no signal. Whaddda pain in da a#@.

Why complain about profiling...if you fit the profile...you are fair game!

He's not bi**hing about being profiled because he fits the description, but because there is profiling in the first place. Why are we targeted because our cars happen to be fast?! I dont see porshes (correct spelling) or lamborghinis, or lotus's, or ferrari's being constantly given bogus ass tickets for bright lights!!! In fact nobody really gets bright light tickets excepts young modders. That is profiling. And that is fu***d up. DAMN THE COPS!!!

thats true actually. there was this one guy with a benz that lives near an ex-gf of mine. hes got badass bright headlights (the type that blind u from 2 lights away). ive asked him if it was even legal to have them, he said no happily, and ive asked him if hes gotten tickets.... all he did was take out his wallet and say, "this baby makes friends better than me". hes a rich bastard..... i believe hes a dentist, dont remember very well.

Because most of those guys driving those vehicles are driving them because they have provided something to society and deserve to have the luxury...and they're not out trying to race every other person from stop light to stop light...They are productive citizens and get some respect because they've earned it.

Just accept where you fit in society because you are the one responsible for where you sit. No one places you where you are and expects you to stay there...except when you're happy where you are.

Hmm.. The Police is coming down pretty hard on modified cars in my area too.
Heard that some people got tickets for stock exhausts just because the tips looked shiny I guess. The problem that we have here is that there is no law defining what’s legal and what isn’t. I have an aftermarket exhaust (very quiet one) and I’m sure that some officer would give me a ticket even though my car passed the emission test a couple of months ago with no problem what so ever. I’d probably get a ticket for my suspension too.
There is no law saying that may exhaust is illegal. It’s professionally installed, quiet, have a catalytic converter, and on top of everything it does not make my car faster (what’s a horsepower or two). Same about my suspension. I’m only about inch or inch and a half lower than stock. Yet people are getting tickets for those mods. Looks like our hobby is getting under fire.

Oh, I know a stripper that drives a Porsche. Would she be considered as a productive citizen too.. I’m sure that there are some drug dealers driving nice cars. What about avoiding taxes and profiting through insurance fraud? Actually after thinking about it, when I see a Ferrari I won’t be really thinking “Gee, he is a God’s gift to the world. He is entitled to be an automotive enthusiast.”

Profiling, be it racial, religious or in this case “modified car” profiling is bad. “Just accept where you sit in society” is not really the way to think. What happened with living in the country of freedom?

Kind of pointless coming from someone who lives in Canada eh?

what does living in canada have to do with it?

Yeah it doesn't make sense.

Well the problem with that is that any male aged 16-23 (guesstimate) is profiled. Put me in a Ford Taurus and its' why the hell is that kid driving that car that obviously isnt his'. Put me in a civic, not even hooked up and its 'oh there goes a future race car'. Put me in ANY stick and its 'he'll probably speed. I'll follow him.' And i couldnt imagine being seen in an expensive ride, they'd prolly pull me over just to check if it wasnt stolen!!! Tell me what car i could possibly drive that'll allow me to pull up next to a cop and have him NOT look down on me like im nothing but a punk. It is possible for the nicest of cops, but any cop that does profile is gonna look at me dirty. Even if i look back with generous respect. We are not profiled by car but mainly by age.

Oh yes. Tell me why i was givin a ticket in Lake Forest, Illinois (really rich area) and when the cop gives me the ticket he also gives me a piece of paper saying how the city doesn't discriminate. I have friends that have gotten plenty of tickets and they live in LF. Have they gotten that paper??? nope. its bull*hit. that is completely bulls*it.

Then you must also complain about insurance costs to young drivers?

It's called probability and statistics.

true, ive got stopped twice while driving my boss's ferrari (with him next to me ofc, i would be dead if he wasnt). even though that most of the time that i drive that car outside of his neighborhood im wearing very decent clothes (usually a suit, but sometimes i just go with the long sleeved shirt with tie, alot more comfortable), and i still get stopped cuz i look around 21 without goatee, 24 with it. but when he drives, its peacefull. he can even drive his viper, which does make some noise, and hes calm. he doesnt let me tuch the viper so i cant say anything else with it :P.

anyhow, another example is when i drive my moms corolla, it all goes just fine, but if i drive my car, many times, i have been followed by cops but they dont stop me cuz they have no reason to. i have been stopped 4 times, only twice given tickets, and it was for stupid reasons. thing is, cops will always misjudge any young citizens as a hazzard to teh streets, even if u are the most law-abiding person in the world.

Socialism, not the same kind of 'what we call' free system here in the U.S. (we also call it Liberalism  ). Understand?

“look suspicious” and “unwanted attention” is fine. Getting fined for something that isn’t illegal and then wasting your time to go to court to prove it, isn’t fine.

Not sure about that Canadian comment. Sounds like somebody is misinformed (does not surprise me).

how are the cops going to tell a productive citizen from a tuner who drives a sleeper from the seat of a car? and are you saying someone can earn the "right" to endanger someone's life because they fixed my chipped tooth last week? F*** that $h!t. If a cop pulls one tuned car over for going 3 mph over the speed limit they better be fair and pull over everyone around him going 3 mph over the speed limit. and all those cops who are fair we call crooked cops in the US.

You miss the point. Most people that drive really expensive sports cars, aren't driving them like the "ghetto riff-raff" that drive the what is the subject of this thread. For the most part, they are driving within the limits of the law because there is so much attention already on them for driving the cars they do.

On the other hand, (I'll call them ricers for now) Ricers mod their cars because they DO participate in illegal street racing and normally race from red light to red light if they perceive that the person in the car next to them happened to look over wrong or rev'd their engine slightly or simply to "prove" their "manhood." They are young and mostly inexperienced drivers out attempting to drive on populated streets as one would on a closed track.

Therein lies the reasoning...one I support 100%.

I have a question, do you race? Like on the streets and if you don't mind, what is your age? Im just making sure that you've participated in an "illegal street race" before you start trashing this sudo- sport.

posted by  s13_Drifter

Your questions have no bearing on the topic at hand. Whether or not I participate in illegal activity at 19yrs of age or 98yrs of age makes no bit of difference.

So in following your logic here, I'm unable to comment on or "trash" a murderer or the plain act of, being that I've never murdered anyone? I cannot "trash" stealing if I've never stolen before? Shall I go on?

Bav has a point in saying that if we complain about cops profiling, then why dont we complain about getting higher insurance. Police see us and think that we are up to do good which mainly as racers...we aren't exactly on our best behavior. We should be followed because we are more likely to raceand be dangers in our civs. then a guy in his Ferrari. Ferrari's are mainly for show. The guy driving that doesn't need to prove he's faster...he won the day he drove it out of the dealership. But what sucks is that they'll find any reason to pull us over. As if our loud mufflers danger anyone? Speeding is a reason to pull someone over, not bright lights. And besides, what makes a cop think that we are not just practicing mechanics, or making a ferrari of our own? just for cheaper. There are some ferraris that dont even have radios. If these rich people want luxury whet do they get? Jaguar, Lexus, Mercedes, and Bentley. What do rich people have ANY need for a race inspired car? To race? Well maybe we want our fast cars for the same reason they want their fast cars. Now can someone older here tell me why he'd have a Ferrari if there are Bentleys around.
