what do you people is the best model of skyline to get?
i think this is the best model
You forgot the tags
My humble opinion is that the R32 GT-R Vspec was the best...they all use pretty much the same engine and the power has only gone up just a bit...mainly torque numbers but that can all be fixed. Sure the R34 has the most gadgets but sometimes you want a simpler car...
One of my favorites...Nick Wong's GTR (participated in 2 USCC's in SCC)
r32 all the way, my brother owns one. lucky punk
my favorite is the r34
Cosmetically, it's always been the R34 GTR
But, performance wise, I prefer the R33, as it's slightly faster (something with aerodynamics?), AWD and still looks fairly nice.
oh yeah... R30 skyline
Performancewise the Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R is the fastest out of all the
generations. Running on the same 2.6L DOHC I6 Twin Turbo platform as the
R33 and R34, the R32 GT-R runs through the 1/4th at 13 flat and 0-60 in 4.7
seconds. However the R32 may be slightly outdriven by the its older
brothers R33 and R34 that fuction on double wishbone and multi link
suspensions as opposed to the R32's F&R strut suspension.
In stock form the 6-Speed R34 would probably be the fastest of its era. As usual most newer cars of an era are generally faster and more advanced than their older counterparts.
But as I say, the Skyline is still the most overpriced, overhyped, and overfamed import ever. No factory Skyline, for the performance it offers is worth more than $48,000-55,000 at the most. The R34 GTR , priced at $80,000, can easily be beaten by an entourage of Mitsubishi Evos, Subaru WRX's, Chevy Corvettes, Porsche 911's, and one or two Audi's that cost a hell of alot less than $80,000. Unless one could purchase an R34 for less than 40,000 I would'nt see any purpose....
I'm more for the R33 looks.
haha, noone agrees with me?... i would so rather have an R30 skyline... why? not many people have one, they look awesome, and noone ever thinks of them... and most people think they look ugly...
Thats because they are ugly. The picture you showed us was of one with a body kit on it, so I'd hate to see what it looks like without one...
no love for the 80s hahaha
and if not the R30, id have to say these old babies
Yes Thank YOU! I was looking for a good pic of one but I really couldnt
find one that did any justice...the old GT-R's are sweet...circa 1970.
So old school and so sweet
The reason they cost so damn much is because of suply and demand. There is a high demand and a small suply so they can charge what ever they want.
actually, a R34 GTr new stock costs around 80 grand. Motorex does not own a
monopoly, as rbmotoring and other private institutions are out there.
That's the beauty of a free enterprise system, where there's demand, there
will be supply. It's the transition that motorex bumps up the cost on. They
charge something like 20 grand to change the cats and the plexiglass.
oh well, motorex is going out of business anyway.
RBmotoring is the only other one to my knowledge. Because there were no skylines in the states they needed to be crash tested. The reason they charge so much is because 1. there is alot to do to the car to make it legal, 2. They had to spend alot of money in order to be able to import them in the first place, and 3. there are very few (2 to my knowledge) importers so they can charge what they please.
Bro RB Motoring is separate...they are not going down for Motorex...
You know what. I stand corrected. I have deleted my previous post as well so that I dont bring up any confusion. After reading at the RBmotoring website, it appears that they do infact import them themselves. Im not sure how or why no body else doesnt do this but i will try to find out.
1. Not that requires 20,000, maybe 5 thousand with labor, tops.
2. Maybe 5 grand, if you get the right importer, tops (why does my shirt cost 4 bucks when it came all the way from china?)
3. Noooo, any one with a will to import can import it themselves. And they can not charge whatever they please. Something called 'competition' limits monopolies and charging whatever you want. It's also refered to as the 'magic hand', where supply and demand determine price. Go take a economics class, it's interesting and you learn a lot.
Nope, wrong again. If there were only 1,00 in japan, then the cost would come up. But when there's a fair amount in the JDM, another business would spring up, charge less to import skylines and take away the other's customers. That's called competition.
1. Yeah It probably takes at least 5k to get it legal. There are many
things involved. They have to change the spedo to usdm, they have to Fix
any lighting. Certain lights are not dot approved and have to be changed.
They have to ad reflectors to be dot legal. they have to ad supports to
certain area's that dont meat dot aproval as far as strength. they need to
do emissions wich can be very expensive. I know people who have imported
cars and it isnt a cheap thing to do. Plus there is paperwork and shiping
that costs alot.
2. Any car that does not have a usdm versoin has to be crash tested to be legal. I do not mean every single car that comes in obviously. but there was a certain number of each model skyline that had to be crash tested before it could be legaly imported. this costs alot of money at 80k a pop for the r34 gtr. so yeah there is some compensation cost added to the price of the vehicle when you get it imported if it does not have a usdm conterpart.
3.First of there are not that many Registerd importers and as far as i know not all of them can import skylines. So even if all 10 or how ever few could, there still isnt a high supply.
my buddy has a 1989 r32 gtst type-m
no nasty all wheel drive
<3 rear wheel
i'd get that....
by far among the most affordable
and easy to import because of age
Pics? Yeah I think ill stick with a sivlvia for my drift car and get the r32 GTR fror grip
Well they are coming out with the Nissan Skyline GT-R Z-Tune. Nissan went around the world looking for R34's that had less then 30k km. They completely redid these R34's and tricked them out with Nismo everything. 2.7L Z2 motor pushing out over 500 hp. you can read about it on page 145 of this month's modified mag. I personnally like the 01 GT-R myself but if i could afford one of the Z-Tunes, . BTW they only are making 20 of these bad boys cause that is all they could find.
Yeah i heard about that, it's times like this I wish I were a rich man. :banghead:
R34 is my pick. Z-tune...nice!
Love my R34 GTt and couldn't really justify the extra bucks for an R34 GTR. Could have got an R32 or R33 GTR for the same dollars as the R34 GTt but am happy with what I've got.
I'd have to say the 32.
Best Skyline... R34 Z-Spec, hands down, but if you don't have $190K to drop on one... I'd say an R33 V-Spec. If I ever have enough money to buy a new Z06, I'll drop it on a legalized R33 V-Spec.
