Considering that one in fair shape would go for no less than $10k...and one in great shape floats around $16k...no. It's a fair price. The engine alone is worth that...not to mention all the M5 parts.

I do know some about the '88 M5. It's my favorite car!

I've had my eye on several for purchase...but still a bit too expensive.

The '88s are worth quite a bit in good shape. And it looks like on that M5 the M specific parts are in decent shape, you could use parts from a regular 5 series to fix it.

Ive only seen a few of those M5s before. I would think theyre pretty rare, and highly coveted for that engine. Its fair.

Not too rare...rare only to find someone wanting to sell a really nice and well kept one. That's the one I'm looking for. It will set me back at least $15k...I just can't justify that expense yet...
