What is this?

I walked by a car this morning and was amazed at how tiny it was. I don't even think a I4 could fit in it. What is it?

You were that close and didn't take a look at it. It is a BMW M roadster. Fun little car. They have an I6 in there. (it has a long nose)

How big is that engine?

That BMW Z4 is bigger than the Fiat in my sig, and bigger than an MGB (and I've put V8s in those). ;) there have been a LOT of much smaller 2 seat sports cars available over the decades. Hell, the Miata is smaller.

cars like the bugeye Sprite:

...which is sometimes referred to as the "World's Happiest Race Car."

And Honda's first car, a sports car, was smaller than that BMW by a bunch...

Thats a BMW M Roadster. It is the high-performance (hense the M) version of the Z3 roadster.

And its fast as al hell, at my recent track day a stage 2 supercharged M roadster was eating 996's for breakfast

terrible parking by who ever parked it tho lol

Not really. I'd have parked like that there. He's not taking up two spots, just taking a little out of the hatched area next to the stall so that no one can park close enough to give the car door dings. If you want your car to be an investment, as well as stay nice longer, you try to prevent brain dead morons from putting any door dings on it.

it wouldnt matter if they did hit it... i can do body work, but i still wouldnt like grindin away on a car like that lol

Thats not surprising. Those things are crazy fast from the factory. I cant wait for the Z4 M-Edition.

i have only seen like 4 of those and they look weird but they look cool in person and they are comfortable

The M Coupe looks really strange, but I could certainly learn to love it.

Thats a BMW M roadster. It actually has an Inline 6 engine. I think it makes 230hp or somewhere in that area. Im not sure on the engine size, but I know its well over the 2600cc mark.

The 1998-2000 M Roadsters were rated at 240 horsepower, while the 2001 models got a new engine rated at 315 horsepower.

The Z4 M-Edition will have 333Hp. (The same engine as the M3).

Well, it does matter, as any repaint devalues eth car, and really, even with a clear Carfax, who's going to believe that the repaint was due to a few door dings, and not someone trying to hide serious damage?

And then, much later, an unmolested original carries a much higher value than one that has been restored or needs restoration.

LOL...Aren't those hatchings there for a reason? :hi:

I personally love the M-Roadster....Has to be an M though....and not a little wannabe 1.9

Very nice Chris, but you forgot one key car that is also, very, very, small
The Fiat X/19

*GASP* Chris, isn't that a Z3 body style???

posted by  jedimario

Yup. Caught a typo. I got lot's of them, where keys are next to each other and I'm typing fast.

And SlipKnot, I left out a LOT of tiny sports cars, otherwise I could have put out a few hundred pictures... ;) (I've had 2 X1/9s... fun little cars)
