I'm so lucky to have an awesome Mom! It's a 2001 5 series with 50K miles.
Automatic (cause we all know I can't drive a manual) It's not brand new,
but I don't care. I love it anyways!! Driving it last night was amazing. I
made tons of pit stops to show my friends. Even a 2001 really is The
Ultimate Driving Machine
BMW with my old Honda in the background.
The key even looks cute!
I love the interior! It's leather. Took me a while to figure out how to turn on the bright lights on the way to Wal-Mart last night.
Little salute since the other BMW thread required one.
Oh shit...please don't wreck her Cera she's beautiful :ohcrap:
Oh I wont (knocks on wood) I took it to Wal-Mart last night and I parked completely on my own row in the back where zero cars were so no one would ding my doors. I come back out and there's 3 cars parked next to me.
Here's a better front view
Me standing with it
Damn she looks nice , but I'm with Steve, be careful with her...
The only thing it was missing was the BMW floor mats. I'm going to look on E-Bay tonight after we get back from Mothers Day at Grandmas house. Unless anyone else can post a link for me if they get bored.
This (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-OEM-BMW-CARPET-FLOOR-MATS-3-5-6-7-X3-X5 -SERIES_W0QQitemZ8065601831QQcategoryZ33697QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) is the only one I could find.
Wow, that's one gorgeous E39!
**Try not to let your friends drive this one
Nice. I think the last gen 5-series had some of the best styling of most cars around today. But that's just my opinion.
Thanks for the link.. I wonder if I could get the color changed to match the interior
I agree. I love those little LED style sidelight bulbs in the front of
later model versions (not sure if this one contains them, it was 2001 that
they were introduced I think...)...they look amazing when illuminated!
Lovely car, Synthetic, take good care of her!
My only problem with cars is remembering to change the damn oil. I remember
when I got my civic 3 years ago my Mom asked me if I'd ever changed the oil
since it was running bad and said "Not in past 10 months Mom." I learned
to try to change it every 3 months lol.
Although this thing kills me in gas. Last night filling up premium was $51.00 for 13 gallons. Good God. I'm so glad Mom pays the car note.
Chances are, your 5-Series will tell ya when she needs an oil change!
That would be nice! I havent even read the owners manual yet. I cant wait to find out all what this car can do! Took me forever to figure out how to unlock the doors from the inside to let my friend in lol.. Im used to it being on the passenger door of my honda but in a BMW its in the middle of the car.
There should be a display under the gauge cluster that tells you when you
need an oil service or inspection. At which point you take it to the
dealership and fork out a few hundred bucks.
Nice car, but too bad its a 525i. I know its a big step up, but the 540i of the same year is insanely fast.
It has a 3 year warranty
Is that a 3 year maintenance warranty, or just on the car? Cause generally warranties don't cover maintenance. Especially since its a 2001, I would assume thats a warranty that the independant dealership gave you.
Yes, but it's alot more car to wrap around said lamp post too lol
Let's hope that never happens
Because being insanely fast is so important in a daily driver for a young
I love fast cars but I'm more interested in just having luxury then something that goes top speed.
Welcome to the club! http://smilies.storagebin.us/smilies/beer1.gif
As is a midsized luxury sedan, whos main market is successful 30-40 somethings.
I still want a ride in yours
It's more USEFUL as a daily driver than a faster car is. You can USE
leather seats, good interior room and luxury amenities and not break any
laws or put anyone else in danger.
But maybe you just have a hard time with things like, oh, coherent thought processes... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: You didn't have a problem with it BEING a luxury car; that was not your objection to it. You decided instead that it wasn't any good because it wasn't FAST enough for you. NOW you want to backpedal...
lovely looking car! i think the e39 is a very classy looking motor, be safe
and enjoy your new toy
on the subject of oil changes when keying the ignition there should be a digital readout telling how many miles before the next oil change. should be every 15,000m or km equivalent - thats if they are the same as the euro models
Born to drive,
When you bought yours did they send you this
If so, have you looked on page 3? What do you think of the 5 series chrome trimed pieces?
Can we see the pic?
yeah hang on
My camera wont focus on tiny print so bare with me
Oh, thanks...they look pretty nice.
Yeah they are. They fit both 5 & 7 series. It says headlight pieces, meaning plural. The price is $84.95 USD. But I'm still not sure if that's for one or both.
hi, i didnt get the booklet you received, i did receive details on
'enhanced driving tuition' by a specialist in germany. in ireland bmw
dealers dont offer anything other than bmw approved extra so we have to
look at either the net or specialist magazines
they look like the 3-series angel eyes, although in my humble opinion the e39 looks top draw and doesnt need too many cosmetic enhancements, thats more a personal thing as their are plenty of lads here in ireland back in the uk who have made many exterior mods
i like the look of the new 5-series 19" spoked rims, which can be found on the m5, or the older 18"'s e39 alloys, im just not a fan of chrome alloys - thats on any car, sorry:oops:
or perhaps the quad pipe throu system would be a nice addition:mrgreen: although as it has been said before on the thread the version you have is more comfortable cruiser as opposed to out and out sports car
i hope my comments havent caused any offence
Send me a specialist magazine!
I'm not really looking to enchance the performance. I just want to dress it up. If that makes any sense. Sorta like what a ricer does if you know what that is.
Thanks for the comments though!
Syn, I think im a little too far away to swing by and give you a ride.
Although If Im ever in your neck of the woods ill look you up.
As far as the lights, IMO I think you should shy away from those and keep the stockers...If you do change out the lights I vote you go with something from Uminitza (http://www.umnitza.com). Most of there stuff is in great taste and will keep the class of the e39 but give you a little more light output (hid's) and styling (dde's, or in ricer talk, angel eyes.)
You're right Chris. I just wish you didn't have to be so insulting all the time. This forum doesn't make me angry or annoyed anymore, it just makes me sigh. I really hope you're nicer in person.
Hey Bav are you on everyday but just post in some areas?
Yes. I am on daily.
However I find I don't have much to add lately...sry to disappoint. :wink2:
The forums have kinda changed..I'm cuttin down on the whoring (or trying to) and have car related questions mostly..meh..kinda sad :ohcrap:
BavarianWheels, do you love me?
Love is learned. We have time.
I noticed you ventured on the Westbank. I live there...sort of. I live in Baton Rouge currently, but my father lives in English Turn. My mother lives in Park Timbers by General DeGaulle.
I have two active rental properties in Marrero...which I am currently price gauging because of the Hurricane situation. But don't worry, the customer doesn't mind because his/hers work is managing the bill. I strongly suggest anyone interested in purchasing rental property to search the New Orleans area. People are selling land really cheap there.
Maybe you've seen me Synthetic Trust. You probably thought I was handsome.
My Aunt is in Tall Timbers off Gen DeGaulle! I lived in Belle Chasse for a
year which is right next to English Turn.
If you were on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras, then you probably saw me. The only sober chick dressed up in a wife beater. lol.
