New "Fastest car, ever"?

Home  \  European Imports  \  New "Fastest car, ever"?

I just read an article in this weeks Auto Express that there could well be a Veyron beater with us soon(ish). It's from a company called Barabus TKR, and has nothing to do with Brabus.....or TVR, lol. It's a Brit comapny and the car is and is said to be capable of 0-60 in "less than two seconds" and have a top speed of 270mph! It has a mid-mounted 7.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 1,005bhp. I guess only time will tell, but apparently it's gonna attempt the new world record in November when it attempts to break the 0-60mph, 0-100mph, 100-0mph and top speed records for a production car! Also, they're apparently working on a V16 version that will be even quicker!

its a whole lot simpler than the veyron though:2cents:
I cant wait to see it run in the 0-60 and 0-100 and 0-100-0
Something also tells me the inside of that looks something like this

i was looking on the barabus website and they say the TKR is a "true italian supercar" where the powerplant will be made in the uk, nice car though!!!
id stick to Nobles new outcome, the M15 which is apparently a Porsche beater!!!

I've never been too keen on Noble's, far to....Mondeo for me, lol. As for the TKR being Italian, it's the first I've heard of it, I was coming over all proud and patriotic there, too! :ohcrap:

go to their website!
http://www.barabus.info/tkr.asp

heres a little snip from that page ive put a link to.......
"The car is to be made in Italy and the power plant is built in the United Kingdom. While the TKR is a true Italian supercar, the vehicle itself reflects a "best-in-practice" philosophy, where Barabus has incorporated superior components from around the globe in order to manufacture the best vehicle possible. The TKR utilizes ceramic brakes as well as numerous high technology pieces from companies located in Italy."

as for noble being "mondeo-ish" i understand as it does have the ford v6 and the model before with the park bench for a spoiler did have a ford turbo v6 with a mondeo gearbox!

The veyron isn't all about speed. The idea is that it is the ultimate in speed, handling, comfort and quality.

Judging by what I've read, the Barabus isn't just about speed!

its got leathers and suede interior, apparently it can be used as a everyday car, highways/motorways/autobahns etc, main roads, back roads

id have that over the veryon, it looks better, obviously sounds like itll perform better! etc etc

I'm not so sure, I looked up the prices and the Veyron can rise to as much as £600,000 but starts at around the same as the Barabus does, whereas the Barabus is only £300,000, I'm not sure if that as much as it'll cost or if it'll rise at all!

posted by  Cliffy

ah! i didnt actually look at the prices or compare them at all!!!

The veyron an every day car? In order to be able to even make 1001 hp it would have to consume over a gallon of fuel per minute. Even if you had the money for that, which I am sure veyron owners do, it's just a complete hassle. Anyone know how big the fuel tank capacity is on a veyron?

EPA city driving: 7 mpg U.S. (34 L/100 km)
EPA highway driving: 10 mpg U.S. (24 L/100 km)
Steady 253 mph (409 km/h): 2.1 mpg U.S. (112 L/100 km)

this was taken off http://www.forbesautos.com/reviews/2006/bugatti/veyron_16_4/preview.html... ...............
In addition to being the fastest car on the road, the Veyron 16.4 is said to be one of the least fuel efficient, with combined city/highway mileage generously estimated at 10 mpg. The Veyron 16.4 reportedly gets around only two mpg at full throttle, which would drain its 26.4-gallon fuel tank in about 13 minutes.

If only engines were more efficient at burning fuel...we could have cars twice as powerful as the veyron be every day cars. There's so much power in even a couple drops of gasoline but most of it is just lost. Some day technology will come through.

i cant remember what site i read it from, but they say, that 3/4 of the bugattis fuel usage is through heat and not power! to me, the bugatti is a pointless car!

posted by  True_Brit

i cant remember what site i read it from, but they say, that 76% of statistics are made up on the spot.

posted by  Godlaus

ah, ok? do you believe it???

posted by  True_Brit

Actually he is right. I read it on www.howstuffworks.com (the site I use to educate me about cars, engines, etc. so I can be a more useful member)

If you read the article about the bugatti veyron, it says 75% of the power is lost through heat in the wheels. That's also where I got my info I posted.

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/bugatti.htm

It's a wonderful site and I am learning a lot about cars from it. I really recommend if you are looking to learn how cars work, how engines work, even what a horsepower is. And it's not just cars, you can learn about ANYTHING.

I used to waste my time online and use crap like chat forums and stupid ass to games, but now I just want to use the greatest resource in the world to my benefit.

Anyways no more rambling. Just I strongly recommend you use that site. Even you know-it-alls could learn a thing or two...maybe :p

Oh there are also great articles on ferrai enzo, ariel atom, lotus elise, and more.
