hey, i dont know if you were here when i asked this... is a pretty good while ago, but quite a while ago i was planning on buyin a bimmer... it was an '87 i think was a 5 series... (i dont have a pic anymore cuz my comp got the "big-reset" and i was wondering if youve ever seen one off these before... but it had rectangular headlights, it was a sedan, and it had an L6 motor. the guy that i was going to buy it from said it was imported from germany, so i dont know if thats just one of the cars we didnt get, or if it was "special" if you will... i was wondering if you might know anything about cuz well, you know bimmers... the guy still has it, and last i knew hes selling it for 3grand, and i wanna buy it, i just dont have the money as of now, im a third of the way there though, and i want to become a bav owner myself .. any info would be great
There are serveral "L6" engines...all of which came standard on the 1987
line of BMW's
L6-2494cc 2.5L SOHC (M20) - 325i
L6-2693cc 2.7L SOHC (M20) - 528e
L6-3430cc 3.4L SOHC (M30) - 535i, 535is, 6 series engine
L6-3453cc 3.5L DOHC (S38) - M5 engine
If he means he put an engine from an L6 model car...that would be the Luxury 6 series...It would more likely be the M30 engine which was standard in the 535i and 535is (hope he's selling a 535is. It comes with a sport suspension set-up) But if he's selling you a 528e with the M30 engine...then it is an "upgrade" as the e's were the smaller more efficient 2.7L eta engine. It is the one I drive and is quite peppy to say the least...I've had mine up above 140mph (speedo only goes to 140mph), I digress.
Also, the 535is comes with the front air-dam and rear deck spoiler...nothing "ricey" but pure working "ground effects".
Anyway get some more specifics...get a pic or two of the exterior, the engine...
M5 Engine (S38)
528e Engine (M20)
Good luck!
hey, i found a pic of what the front end looks like... this one though, as
you can probably tell by the plate is a rinspeed bimmer... but you get the
That's nice, but pics of the actual car would be better.
those are neat looking headlights. i have never seen those before..
maybe because i've never looked up that generation 5 series, but looks very neat.
