"hit by previous owner" ??!!??? hahahaa posted by  windsonian

That's a decent price (at least compared to around here). It's probably gonna sell quickly (although it's not gonna be bought by a CF member). posted by  chris_knows

I wonder what it did to him that he hit it:laughing: posted by  dvdrose18

It was too damn slow so one time he sideswiped something, and then he backed into a parking pole...douchebag right posted by  newyorker

no.... I just like the way that you're trying to sell the car, you want to admit that it's been in an accident, but you have to make sure people don't think YOU crashed it. no one cares who crashed it. as long as it makes you feel better that potential buyers think that someone else crashed it not you.

Do you think a potential buyer will ignore damage if it wasn't caused by YOU?

Remember, this is an ad for the car... nothing to do with your safe driving record. posted by  windsonian

What difference does it make to you? Dont like it, dont buy it, simple as that. Its a hard concept to shut the **** up when needed but im sure you can get the hang of it. Start now.

The point is, im young. I dont want someone to come see the car and think that i banged it up and assume that there are other problems cause i was spinning the tires at every chance so I make it clear that the accidents werent mine, then the buyers can do their own snooping, but I wont be left in the spotlight as the d-bag driver that abuses his car. posted by  newyorker

No...just the "d-bag" that doesn't have enough pride in his car to fix it within 2 years...:screwy:

Trying to weasle out of one blame just to throw yourself into another one.

No argument with this...

but why does it matter what the buyer thinks of YOU.
you're trying to upsell yourself to the buyer. If it makes you feel like a bigger man, then go ahead, but it's completely (and obviously) out of place in the ad.

[EDIT]:

Ok, here's a deal for you. If you don't say anything
1) Stupid
2) Hypocritical
3) Prejudiced
4) Narrow minded
5) Egocentric
6) Derogatory

Then I'll "shut the **** up".

How about that? posted by  windsonian

Considering his track record as of late...I'm not sure you'll be quieted.

because i dont care enough to fix it posted by  newyorker

That being worse than having caused the damage yourself...but you being young, logic evades your intelligence...hence Windsonian's comment(s).

Maybe when you grow up logic will find you...

Good 'ol CF drama....I can kind of see where NY'er is coming from as far as the damage is concerned. He doesn't wan't to let prospective buyers think/know that the car they're interested in has been 'ragged' from pillar to post. Fair enough.....Even though it might have been, in all honesty, lol. Regarding the repairing of the damage. I've never repaired any minor damage to any of my cars, mainly because I rarely cause any, and cars I muy tend to be 'ok' as far as previous damage goes. I'd certainly not repair a car that I was about to see if it had some slight cosmetic damage to it. That would be silly, and chances are unless it's a classic or something, the sort of buyer who calls regarding such vehicles understands that it wouldn't be cost effective to repair and sell. posted by  Cliffy

That's not his reasoning.

Point being NY'er had to go and make a point of making sure the potential buyers know HE didn't cause "that" damage. What difference could it possibly make?? The damage is there and whether the owner did it or not is up to the buyer to size it up whether it is within his/her means of acceptable.

Everyone has accidents and unless one is trying to sell off an otherwise "mint condition" object...it makes no difference what-so-ever who was driving or owned the car when an accident occured causing some damage to the facade. Afterall...it is what's beneath that facade that should be the most important...right? And of course NY'er takes immaculate care of his cars...

I agree with your point...problem is, it's not his point. I don't think that even entered his mind....logic that is.

Why would I pay 150 to respray my back bumper and another 100 to have the headlight aligned....its all not important stuff, i spent the money needed on the engine and trans to make the car drive well, im not going to invest hundreds into making it look perfect casue it never will be posted by  newyorker
