I just bought my first dirt bike, 2001 WR 250. I've got and ride a utility
atv a lot but this thing is quite different. I just got the thing today and
I've got some "stupid" newb questions. Ok, I can shift though all the gears
and back except neutral...is there a trick? Or am I just not holding my
mouth right?? And are all fout strokes this hard to crank? I mean I'm kinda
a big guy, 6'3 230 lbs and it takes about all I got just to get a little
putter(wasn't really trying to start it, just wanted a feel for it). I'm
assuming the the dipstick by the handle bars is for the engine oil but the
only line on the thing is right at the bottom, is this the fill line or
what?? And lastly what about the choke?? It was after dark when I was
fooling with it but I couldn't find one anywhere unless it was on the
handle bars and I just didn't reconize it. Thanks, and feel free to laugh
all you want...just please don't do t to my face...:wink2:

Ok i think the gears are 12345 and number 2 there is nutral. You might be
hitting up to hard and skipping nutral and go into 3. No some bikes are
hard to start and some arn't. My dad has a YZ250f and yes it is a pretty
hard to start. you should of bought the electric starter wrf250 now thats
easy. i am not sure about the dipstick but usually where the line is on it
is where you want it to be filled at. I'm not sure about the choke either
but it is usually around the carborator on a lot of other bike. I hope i
helped you thats all i know:)
