OK so I went to e-town today with a few friends to get some runs in. Had a
lot of fun, and there's definately room for improvement, especially coming
off the line.
Run 1: No excuse, this run sucked
R/T - .776
60' - 2.374
330 - 6.388
1/8 - 9.685
mph - 74.86
1000 - 12.506
1/4 - 14.945
mph - 90.45
Run 2: Rev limiter in 4th
R/T - .495
60' - 2.290
330 - 6.252
1/8 - 9.496
mph - 76.18
1000 - 12.276
1/4 - 14.637
mph - 93.63
Run 3: Hit boost cut twice cause I turned it up too high
R/T - .625
60' - 2.442
330 - 6.450
1/8 - 9.676
mph - 76.94
1000 - 12.472
1/4 - 14.851
mph - 91.7
Run 4: Clean run
R/T - .455
60' - 2.261
330 - 6.135
1/8 - 9.360
mph - 76.42
1000 - 12.141
1/4 - 14.518
mph - 92.94
Run 5: Spun trying to work the launch more
R/T - .462
60' - 2.324
330 - 6.381
1/8 - 9.680
mph - 75.05
1000 - 12.501
1/4 - 14.904
mph - 91.84
Also weighed my car while I was there, 2722 with driver, and I'm 210lbs so
car is 2512 fully loaded, spare and all. Next time I'll come with no spare
and junk in the car, as well as 1/4 tank of gas (this time I was on nearly
full)
If I can get my 60 foots down to 2.0 or so, I should be able to hit 14.4
maybe even 14.3 and then it's time for a DP and Exhaust, and I should be in
13s.

You need 2 more wheels with either slick or drag radials. that'll (Usually)
help your launch and give you better traction all the way down. You could
probably knock off .5 sec off your time with a good set of tires. I use Pro
Stars and MT slicks when I go to the track. (Wife and/or friend drives my
silverado with the slicks, I drive the Camaro, change it out when we
arrive). I was shocked how much they help my beast.
Not bad for your first time at the strip though. My first time racing was
in my 97 Isuzu Hombre (Yeah, the thing did the quarter in 18.9xx. Not bad
for a 2.2L 5-sp pickup with an open dif.
Autocross > drag :p
Although I agree that autoX is a lot of fun, I'm nuetral to which is better. I don't think either are better than the other, simply because they're completely different styles of racing, and therefore it's like comparing apples to oranges. That's basically the long way of saying I like them both equally, and don't think either is better than the other.
The "more fun" one is better for you.
It's nice to do a mix.
Went to Atco today. First run, great temps helped me cut my time. Then
there was a spill or some nonsense and by the time I got to do run 2 I had
a 2.30 60 foot and didn't even take the slip but I'm guessing it was a 14.6
or so
Run 1:
R/T - .475
60' - 2.178
330 - 6.019
1/8 - 9.212
mph - 76.18
1000 - 11.971
1/4 - 14.319
mph - 96.54
I'm pleased.
