Small SUV or other 4WD suggestions?

I am looking for a small, used, or perhaps new, SUV that is less than 22,000. I will need a 4WD for the weather conditions I am moving into, however also need to take into consideration the small, cramped nature of the garage/parking lot I will be using.
I would like to hear recommendations about either SUVs or other 4WD cars I might consider to fit these conditions. Look forward to hearing any suggestions. Thanks.

How about a Ford Escape? They are good on gas, have optional 4 wheel drive, and are pretty small for an SUV. Other choices to consider:

Subaru Forester
Honda CRV
Toyota Rav4
or
Jeep Liberty

Id spring for slightly used Forester XT or a Honda CRV.

I own a 2003 Jeep Liberty and love it...

the only issue it has it really sux at cornerning and it's rear tires enjoy squeeling on tight turns... but other than that.. no problems.. ;)
