For full features; Go to Head Unit in a 97 Saturn SL1
I might be buying a 97 Saturn SL1 and I have been told that head units are
a a pain to put in them. Is that true? If it isnt what would be a good head
unit to buy?
ColdFusion0207
i have never installed a head unit in a saturn so i dont know how difficult
it is. It depends how much you are looking to spend on a head unit and
what you are looking for in it: cd, mp3, ipod ready. I would recomend
either alpine or pioneer head units depending on how much you want to
spend.
griffinstud78
how much do they cost?
ColdFusion0207
It shouldnt be a pain to install it given you have bought the mounting
kit...
Right now the best HU manufacturer is Eclipse, so if you want top notch,
buy Eclipse. Panasonic to me makes the best bang/buck HU (the 8300 has a
great S/N ratio and has 3 5v pre-outs for under $250). Alpine and Pioneer
are good, but you'll have to spend some money to get their good units.
There is no one single price for a HU. You can buy each companies bare-bone
HU for $100 or spend $1500 and get a 7" motorized screen with their top of
the line unit.

where do u buy a mounting kit? cant i slide out the stock one and slide in
a new one?
ColdFusion0207
you can buy a mounting kit at best buy or circuit city. no you will not be
able to do that because the hole from the stock one will be larger than
what the after market will need.
