Has anyone read this article from Yahoo/AP news?
It got me giggling!!
I can just imagine the cynical cop's face on this one...
haha, that guy was thinking on his toes for sure
whoa thats unbelievably crazy....that guy must be pretty damn smart.
Smart in his resourcefulness.
Not smart in his procrastination.
of course! :D
HAHAHA great! bow to da power of internet!!
and cell phones!
If his friend had my ISP he'd be walking right now. I really gotta get DSL.
what do you have now?
At home, dial up and a 56.6k modem. Slow as hell some days. On a busy night sometimes there will be a reply to my post before I can read it.
wow. i'm sorry....why don't you upgrade to cable? ive heard its better (more reliable) than DSL....I can testify, I have cable and it kicks butt!
I've been told that DSL is as good and I know it's alot cheaper. That's what's in the shops and it pretty much screams. I've never used cable.
well yes, it may be fast and cheap....but ive heard horror stories of crappy service with DSL....so its a good contest. an issue with cable is its not available everywhere....but i mean if you have good DSL then go for it.
It's really kind of a toss up. The only trouble we have with DSL is the
morning after an electrical storm (or sometimes during one) we have to call
to get it reset, whatever that means. My cable at the house goes in and
out on a fairly regular basis. That and the fact that I'm cheap is what's
kept me with dial up this long.
Actually pretty much everything in this area is substandard. Redneck Hell is still working on paved roads and indoor plumbing. 8O
I have cable. My friend has DSL.
Cable is good. It works for me. The down side is that you "share" the connection with the other users in the community so sometimes in the early evening the service slows down and you get lag. The up side is that if you can, do all your downloading and uploading in the late night as most people are in bed (like now...it's midnight plus 9 mins for me) and your connection speed can more than double. I average about 350kb downloading and about 250kb upload.
DSL on the other hand is a single line dedicated for "you." The only problem is that dsl speed is dependant on the distance your connection is from the "hub". The farther you are away from the hub, the slower the connection speed. The closer, the better. I'm just over 4,000ft from my nearest dsl hub, or less than a mile. That is excellent distance and I'd be getting a better connection than with my cable now. Also with dsl, you can get (at a higher cost) a static IP address for those of you that wish to run servers from your home (yada, yada). I'm not certain, but I don't believe you can get a static IP address with cable...but don't quote me on that...I know my friend switched specifically to get the static IP address and he had the same cable co. as me. I don't know if other cable co.'s offer that as an added service.
Hope that helps someone out there...It's late and I (apparently) felt like doing some typing.
Wowser, that's way over my head but thanks for the info anyway. ;)
I figured this pic might fit into a thread called "Smart Motorist", just
for a different reason.
