Hi guys! Everyone here likes cars right? If you want to win this brand new
BMW M3 then all you have to do is answer Einstein’s riddle.
The first person to get the right answer and show their working out wins the car. If you work the riddle out correctly within 48 hours then you’ll also get 3 years free insurance cover on the M3. Here’s the riddle: -
There are 5 houses in 5 different colours in a row. In each house lives a
person with a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of
beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No
owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, or drink the same
beverage. Other facts: -
1. The Brit lives in the red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The green house is on the immediate left of the white house.
5. The green house's owner drinks coffee.
6. The owner who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The owner living in the centre house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The owner who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The owner who keeps the horse lives next to the one who smokes Dunhill.
12. The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The owner who smokes Blends lives next to the one who drinks water.
The question is - who owns the fish?
I had to do a riddle just like this in class. Damn if I only remembered the answer and how I did it.
I said to show your working out.
yeah i know. i dont know how to work it out i just remember some people i know working it out and getting the german
I thought that there were meant to be intelligent members in here :umh:
Forget the fish for now. What you need to do is match the houses, owners,
pets, beverages and cigar brands together. I started with the locations of
the houses and the information that's already given e.g. "The Brit lives in
the red house." Once I got so far it came down to the process of
elimination. Here's some more help to save time - "first" = "left".
Is anyone bothered or shall I just let this go?
It's a trick question, nobody owns the Fish. :wink2:
Alrighty, I staid up late for this one, but here it is,
Yellow House=Norwegian drinks Water, Smokes Dunhill, and raises Cats.
Blue House=Dane, Drinks Tea, Smokes Blends, and raises a Horse.
Red House=Brit, Drinks Milk, Smokes Pallmall, and raises Birds.
Green House=German, Drinks Coffee, Smokes Prince, and raises a FISH.
White House=Swede, drinks Beer, smokes Blumasters, and raises Dogs.
Good stuff WannabeWRXOwner  I also thought the same as you about
the fish; it's just an assumption that it's the fifth pet.
Unfortunately for you, I received this private message from abdulmo 86 at 5:44 AM today.
She also left her name, phone number and address. Congratulations abdulmo 86, enjoy your new car that you’ll be getting on Saturday morning
That's quite shady really, a woman giving a stranger who's been running a fictitious competition some of her personal details. It's a good job I just made that up.
My Dad the riddle the other way round to me so that he wasn't tied down with the locations of the houses and finished the exercise way before I did. "It's what they call thinking outside of the box", he says to me like I'm not familiar with that phrase. That's typical for an executive to say something like that: -
