Thought I'd just snap some more pics of my baby. Got a new head unit and
It's looking cleaner Steve.
Thanks bro, just washed it, gonna wax it later today
Looking real good
arent those the 6x9's you can get at walmart?! :ohcrap:
anyways where u gonna put em? in the back of your seats?, you should get like a 10" and shove it in back of your seats, you can probably find a box for that truck :wink2:
edit: that is a beautiful truck tho, i can see the white smoke billowing now :hi:
they are 6x8 idiot. and you might be able to get them at walmart, but they are good nonetheless.
nice work steve. if i were you id fix that shift boot, or just better yet get a new one. other than that its one mean ranger. lovin the sound ideas you got. gona have subs or no? if you can mount them behind/under the seats.....HOTNESS
hey you slacker...instead of taking pics you should be helping your dad cut
the grass!!!! :wink2:
heh nice truck
Yeah I plan on putting a sub behind each seat, an amp under each seat, blue neons through out the interior, blue neons underneath the car, some under the hood etc... The speakers are 6X8's and I got em at Best Buy, they sound pretty damn good too
Actually they are Ford 6x8 which means it's not 6x8 or 5x7 but rather
5.5x7.5. Don't believe me, get a tape measure out and check for yourself
They are budget level entry speakers. So "good" is something only a guy who wants sound to come out of something could say, an audiophile or someone remotely into clarity would not call TS-G's "good".
I bet can make you feel bad for buying retail...
Ford 6x8 TS-G at Best Buy = $60
Ford 6x8 TS-G at Ikesound.com = $35
BTW - That's actually a quote from circuit city because best buy's site was down, but they are the same in price (retail).
Check out the box, they say 6X8. They are good, that doesn't mean outstanding, I wish they had more bass and a clearer high when turned up loud but they are decent with me for now :wink2:
What about shipping
Correction, it says "ford" 6x8, measure the cone, they are 5.5x7.5...Did an
install of "ford" 6x8's not too long ago, they are all that size.
They dont have bass and distort when you turn it up because...
A. You aren't powering them correctly.
B. And for bass, they are tiny, they cant even reproduce audible frequencies below ~35hz at all.
You have to understand your HU is giving them maybe 15 watts per speaker. The recommended RMS on the speaker is double that (30rms), when you have speakers, you send RMS to them if not a little more so that when you do turn it up, they WON'T distort, because when you turn it up you send clipped power to them if you dont have enough power, which in turn will fry your speaker.
So basically you're telling me I need to get a more powerful head unit?
$10 to me. So $45 total.
Add on sales tax to that $60.
I have no idea what an "average" sales tax is so I'll just say 8% (In most of Georgia it's 7% and in most of Louisiana it is 9%, those are where im living backand forth right now).
So you're looking at ~$64.80. Or just say $65.
That's $20 more. Or about 30-35% more you paid.
Not to mention costs of driving to the store, pain of probably waiting in a Thanksgiving line and finally talking to a clueless Best Buy car audio salesman. When I could of made three clicks on the mouse, and BAM I'm done and saved 30%+ over you.
Man this sucks hella monkey balls, COULDA TOLD ME SOONER DAMMIT :banghead:
Like I told you in another thread (or someone else) put at least a cheap amp to them!
$58, cant beat that.
See I don't know a lot about audio, would it sound best if I put a sub with the amp?
That amp would be for the Ford 6x8's. It's so when you crank up the volume
it dosent distort because you'll be sending them the proper amount of
You want a cheap dual sub setup for a truck?
Box - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_4014.html -$29
Subs - http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=295-550 - $64.90x2 = $129.80
Amp - http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/2426 - $115
Amp wiring kit - http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/3750 - $29
Total = $302.80, for one nice budget setup, and that's EVERYTHING you need
The thing is with the sub I am REAAAALLY tied for space in that cab so I can't have anything that will get in the way
That's a truck box meant for a single cab pickup, it should fit. 8.5" max width (which is at the bottom). measure and if that's too big go with 8's.
Alright thanks bro!
id get called a ricer for that kinda thing.... :banghead:
Yeah, hell I don't care which derogatory term they shall call me, I think they look nice so whatever :wink2:
as do I...they might look a bit weird with your red interior...what color tubes do yuo want..my blue with my beige interior looked like ass!
I want either blue or purple, red would be cool too i guess
See the tihng is that with the red..it might look a bit odd....and if you got red tubes they would be hardly noticable...give it a try tho id go for black light if I were you.
I dunno if the black light would be the best idea.......
Get what you want its your car so what you think will look best will look best for you. :2cents:
Why, what are you planning on doing in the truck that may show up with
black light? :wink2: J/p.
Looks nice man
I'd suggest re-doing the red interior...it doesn't look bad, but IMO won't really match too many neons :2cents:
Wow...my posts seem to lead to strange moments..
Probably wouldn't be too expensive to do either, just the cost of the
material you buy (my dad did it to his old Firebird).
Hey what can I say, he made it seem 'fishy'
Kinda makes me wonder too right now...something you want to share with us Steve?
