I BROKE THE BANK DUDE!!! no kidding! yea i basically invested 2 pay checks into this. We went through kind of a rough time and it looks like it might get a little worst. She's a grade above me and i'm in 11th so the big C word is coming into play. So i kind of wanted this really special.

Heheh, i didn't conform to the masses and spend tons of cash. Well, I bought a single long stemmed dark red rose... but that was $6.45.

But I made a print of a photo I took of her a year ago when she wasn't looking. I just discovered it last night when i was looking through negatives and printed it today (in a darkroom). And yea, no one can put a price on sentimental art (right?).

It's Valentines day? Oh yeah, guess it is...who cares? You shouldn't need an excuse like taht to spoil your significant other if you ask me.

I agree with my father in this case: "this is one of those Hallmark BS holidays..." I dont think that my specail someone needs a "day" where she is recognized, I mean how is it differnt than any other day? She is always special to me.

that being said I will not buy roses as they are marked up to hell, I will however take here to a dinner. But we do that all the time.

A fresh bottle of meguiars Gold Class Pure Caruba wax, and gold class leather protectant/cleaner...

I will spend valentines day alone...in my living room...with a bottle of booze...sobbing quietly to myself. So cold. So cold on the inside.

lol, just playin. I dont have a date or a "valentine" but I dont really mind.

I agree. Personally, I think buying things on Valentines Day or VD as I like to call it  seems too much like you are trying to buy someone's love instead of earn it through everyday actions. If it takes material things to make her/him like you, I think you need to reevaluate your relationship.:2cents:

I see what you are saying and i understand where you are coming from, but being in a relationship for almost 2 years now i don't think i'm buying her love for me i'm just showing my love for her by a little pampering. :2cents:

ok so I was at work today and was outside taking out the trash. I happen to look up and see a plane making a heart. Who hear would take credit for having a plane make that for their significant other

I'd try, but I doubt anyone would believe it ...I'd probably just go for "Me and a couple of friends decided to pitch in and rent this out":laughing:JP

i got "her" absolutly nothing because i dont have a "her". if you ask me, Valentines day is a waste of time and money that can be well spent on better things in life. such as cars... and paint... and a nitro tank refill... and more paint... .and feil admission... god i could go on forever but i will stop it there.

hah damn i got 17 years down and it sucks:banghead:

posted by  mx3_monster

I don't have 17 years down (as I'm not even 17) but I still feel it's been too long.... yes that means I didn't have a Valentine (although one offered but she has a bf who doesnt care and vice versa).

I see it as only being a god holiday if you have someone to show your love, respect and care for, and to do that doesn't mean you got to spend tons of money (if any at all).

posted by  car_crazy89

I you're doing it right, you show your love and respect every single day, not just once a year on some arbitrary holiday. Our big date yesterday consisted of pulling 120' deep well pump out of the ground, rebuilding/cleaning it and putting it back down with new PVC and electrical wiring. That's a lot more romantic and bonding than flowers and jewelery... If you do it right.:wink2:

Now, I aint saying she a gold-digger.....

Is your 'love' for her measured by the size of your wallet?

To show your 'love', do something that can't be bought (like love), do something that means a lot to only you and her (like love), do something that doesn't cost money (like love).

The worst thing any guy can do is spend money on a gal.
Sorry to be bashing on ya:ohcrap: .

liek i said before... much more better theings to be spending money on

posted by  starscream0

Now if that's not love, I don't know what is lol. Well you atleast had a productive day.... and you were together when you did it, which would be better then buying gifts and not being with her.

sounds fun....

i got my wife a box of hand-picked sugarfree chocolates and a card...

she got ME a card and a heart-shaped pizza....

I got my girlfriend some roses and a bag of Reese Bites. She got me some chocolates. We went out for a nice dinner at Milestones. We agreed on our first Valentines (3 years ago) not to get each other any presents and we haven't since.

I don't think Valentine's day is totally stupid. Obviously theres people out there that will say "You're supposed to be celebrate each other everyday". The fact of the matter is, people get stressed out, overwhelmed, overworked, and they aren't always showing their love. Valentines day is good day to leave all of those stresses behind, and focus on one another. A good relationship is strengthed by a nice, romantic Valentines evening (in my case I work all day, so its really only the evening).
