Whoaa...they look crazy...I like "Consumption," it looks oddly intriguing lol...nice work, can't wait to see more

Noooo, you like the first one lol.....FieroKid, where that could be classed as inapropriate (the first one obviously), I'm willing to let it stay....in the name of art...I guess...Dunno if I'm doing the right thing but hey.....I can take it lol

Well if you get complaints Ill take it right down, but it did win silver at national scholastics comp which is a high school competition... also I thought that it might be inappropriate which is why I put adult only... as a warning.... its also not meant to be sexual in any fashion... its actually a sequel to forgotten.

posted by  TheFieroKid

can't believe they let that in a high school competition, did you take all those pictures? Even though they aren't really that appealing to me I respect your efforts.

As long as it's not meant to be porn, I'd think it would be allowed, and the first thing that came to my mind wasn't anything dirty when I saw it...

posted by  chris_knows

Yup, as long as she isn’t doing a sexual act then it is still art... and yup they are all taken by me. They are all in my portfolio for my college apps. I’m trying to get into the brooks institute of photography in cali.

Very nice photos, I like the one with the grand am in it. I took Photo 11 in high school, and I liked doing those ones with one thing coloured (sorry I don't know the technical term).

I'll see if I can find some of my old work and post it....

On a side note, I was thinking of undertaking this personal photo project. See where I work is in North Vancouver, and its facing downtown Vancouver over the water. Its the most spectacular view, and everyday I see it when I get off of work. Because of the varied weather here, you see a different Vancouver everyday single day, and I was thinking of taking a single digital photo everyday for a year from the exact same spot. I think something cool could come out of that eh?

Today for example, it was foggy with the Sun going down in the background, perfect photograph.

Heres an example that isnt mine:

very nice work, very nice. the last two were my favorites, and cnsumption was good, but the first jus didnt catch me, like the last two. But still, very very nice.

I take it you're printing on fiber and the last two are hand colored?

posted by  shadowedII

Hand coloured?...I didn't know people could colour that good lol...I know there are filters for that on cameras, and I'm almost positive that it's not from Photoshop because the lines between the colour and black and white are too fine for that...

posted by  chris_knows

yea, it's not that difficult after you get the hang of it. i've had to hand color individual vines the size of the tip of a toothpick. it's just a matter of getting your mistakes fixed quickly and taking out the excess color to give it that even look.

and there is no filter that filters all color out minus one, leaving a black and white image for everything else. I tried to create one... it's impossible. physics says it.

posted by  shadowedII

Physics might not allow it, but technology does...I've seen video cameras at Best Buy with that feature...like pick only red, or several other colours, but colouring might give it a more realistic look...

posted by  chris_knows

yea, its because they can digitally imitate and dublicate the rods and cones that the human eye has, thus taking in light in red green and blue wavelengths and then re-combining them (to create full color) or omitting one to create a different hue.

technology does have its perks. i tried to create that black and white filter so that i could put it over the viewfinder of a 35mm SLR, so that someone could get a better idea of how their image would turn out on black and white film.

those are nice pictures i like consumption the best:thumbs:

It's ok for the time being. If you put images up instead of links, it would have beeen a different story, but as it stands people dont have to view the images

I ussaly use fiber base paper, but this is the first class in the degree from my college so we have to start with basics so its R/C paper... but if you look at my old stuff i posted, my pain, color of love, even Forgive and Forgoten are on fiber.

As for coloring yes it was done by hand, My pain and Color of love are done with oils, but I cant afford oils right now so the 2 newest are done with color pencils.

I like to colorize by hand because its more forgiving then photoshop, I can spend hours on photoshop and if its a small object im coloring it may not come out right at all... but by hand on a print some how they always come out looking better.

Kind of like how Bravo (T.V. Network) can show Office Space completely unedited, but Comedy Central has to edited it. It's the same damn movie, and both stations are regular cable stations. Anyways, very nice pics, kinda wish I took photography when I had the chance in highschool.

(I had to scan it so its not that amazing looking... Lol... I had to scan it while its in its matte... thus the tape...)

Shot with a Nikon N6006 SLR 35mm. Printed on a Bessler enlarger on Fiber paper with a full-frame negative carrier.

Stiman are you going to go into photography as a career?
If so what aspect?

Personally i like working with people and would like to work for maxium (or maybe a more risqué magazine).

I know how hard it is to get into brooks... but I’m also applying to a few other schools... Art institute of CO. is my safe school.

Naw man. Photography is a passion for me. Perhaps it will help as another thing that I do for extra notice when applying for schools, but I want to be an engineer.
You have done college right? Brooks is like grad school I think. Theres a guy that just graduated from there who went to my school. Pretty cool stuff, he had a great time. Like 75% of the people that started in his graduating class with him dropped out because its so hard. Good luck!

You have some great stuff there!

ya Im at LCC right now, its one of the only schools in the country with a full transfer program with brooks, so that’s gonna help me.

Photography is my passion which is why I want to do it for a living…no reason to do something I don’t fully love… ive jobs where I did them for the money and ive never been happy.

posted by  TheFieroKid

Ya, engineering is a passion and a money-maker, works well for me.

posted by  StiMan

Ya you have to make it into one of the good mags to make money with photography… oh well just a matter of time.

posted by  TheFieroKid

What about a car mag?

posted by  StiMan

Ya products are ok, and the same principles apply so I can do them… but I like working with people.

Playboy? :hi: :hi: :laughing:JK

posted by  chris_knows

I think he means "Maxim," a magazine not all that different from Playboy.

posted by  StiMan

Actually id really rather work for hustler… or as a scene photographer for vivid Entertainment… I know I’m a perv but every body knows the adult industry pays better then anyone else.

posted by  TheFieroKid

Both physically and monetarily... ohhh yaaa.
