Yep. I'm tearing the Lumina's engine apart to attempt to rebuild it. I have a good amount of pics but my computer's being gay right now so I can't upload them....Anywho, I'm almost positive that I threw a rod (Or it's getting VERY close to that point) so I'm checking them out and probably checking over everything.

Anywho, as far as the problem. I'm not exactly sure if what I found was the actual problem, but I KNOW it's not good.
2 Pushrods were actually in the bottom of the head. How they got there? I don't know.
1 Valve spring was not under any tension except for the rocker holding it down (I found that one out real quick. Damn near took my head off...)
Powersteering pulley has multiple chips.
Power steering fluid, oil, and coolant all found on the p/s where the engine block meets the intake manifold.
Regular green coolant and dex-cool was mixed together (Fun gel shit in my entire cooling system)
Lots of metal shavings were in the oil pan
Tranny fluid was blacker than black.
I should've gotten more pics, but I got too pissed at it and put it all back together (Plus the parents were getting on my case about all the parts all over our garage floor.

There's only one word that sums up my Lumina right now. Junk. SO I'm looking at some different options, like a 91 Galant VR-4 Turbo 5-speed for 2200. Also, I'm moving away in 2 weeks so I'm considering trucks (My old 94 Ranger, but that still needs work) and I found a 93 Mitsubishi pickup 4-cyl 5-speed for around 2000. I'm not really sure if these will even be options since my 'rents are still discussing what my price range is (I have 0 money. Lucky me:banghead: )

Cause it aint worth it. Tranny's almost dead, needs tires desperatley, rear struts or strut mounts are bad. It's just junk. I could care less about the struts and tires, but a new tranny and engine is going to be 3G+ (New tranny in the Grand am was about 1900, and that was a deal, new engine for this peice would be close to 2000. I don't trust junkyard engines or trannys, I buy rebuilt ones. Sadly, that's too much $$$$$$)
oh, i see... junkyard engines don't bother me. i usually freshen them up a little before i put 'em in, though.
This engine is why I don't buy from JYs. It was the second engine (from a
JY) and has only been in there for 2-3 months. Did I mention the upper and
lower balljoints were bad?
Everytime I see the pic of the car i laugh cause both those packs of ciggies were gone that night. both were almost full packs too. thats how much of a PITA it was...
...but you don't have upper ball joints...
Meh, just what my friend told me. I never looked by the front suspension or anything around there. He's also the one that told me about the struts + strut mounts. I'll check them out if I feel ambishious (sp?) enough.
