Quck computer question...

Home  \  Off Topic  \  Quck computer question...

I wanted to upgrade my ram because all the little computer stores are having sales. Currently I have 4 memory slots, 2 of which are being taken up by crucial rendition pc5300 ddr667 512 MB sticks (1GB total) like so

[512] [empty] [512] [empty]

I found crucial rendition pc5300 ddr667 1 GB ram stick for cheap, so can I just install it like this and its ok? (end up with 2GB)

[512] [1GB] [512] [empty]

Or does there have to be some sort of formula...?

This would be the best way to do it, in my opinion, because I could also buy 2 512's, for the same price, and I would also end up with 2 GB, but then if I want to upgrade further in say a year, then I have to throw away some ram...as I would have no available slots.

So you're saying it would work for sure? I remember in the old days, you had to pair up ram in special way or something...
