what GPS units do people have for their cars? I'm a TomTom fan...I have been using the TT 910 lately it's definitely sweet it has TTS (text to speech - which tells you when to turn), mp3, bluetooth capability, and some of the most up to date maps of North America and Europe.:hi: :hi: :hi:
I have a technically advanced version called a "map".....
I have an even more advanced version called "I know it's around here somewhere".
i got you beat, mine is better, its called "dad, i'm lost"
Yikes! What happens when you are lost and your Dad doesn't answer his phone
or phone battery is drained?
I'm tellling you in five years there won't be one car that doesn't have a GPS unit in it! So the people who have these units now are sort of the like the people who had cell phones in the early ninties. For my money I like the tomtom 910. It is worth exploring because the GPS world is huge and is only getting bigger.
there have been a few problems with GPS/satnav (whatever youd like to call
it), there was one mishap down my way where a truck (a big volvo 16
wheeler) was led into a single lane road to get to a quarry and written off
7 cars along the way (totalling more than £30,000 damages, the driver
was portugese) and he was relying on his tomtom. another one was in germany
where an old couple were led down a country lane then off a cliff to their
(so be careful, apparently they will direct you to roads that arnt updated off the system yet!)
Well you still have to use common sense. The GPS unit isn't going to drive
your car for you. My Go 910 hasn't Steered me in the wrong direction.
However this car below will drive for you! hehehe :orglaugh:
i cant see the car (im on my work computer as i have no internet at home as of yet) but would it be that VW Golf or the Lexus that self parks itself???
wasnt TomTom the one who got a post on some site with the story of how a
guy went to some cabin using the same route he has used for years, and then
TomTom told him to take another road, a small, dirt side road which got his
girlfriend completely terrified?
im pretty sure it was....
oh wonderful itll be great. less for people to think about, so when the satellite crashes because its using windows vista people will act like its the end of the world and not make it to work on time, and blame everything on tomtom going down, the human race gets lazier by the second. if anyone asks me for directions be prepared to pay! i damn well mean it like 5 bucks ill tell you where anything is, you pay for what i know not what i can do ha this will be awesome:thumbs:
i love it when people ask me where such as such is and i tell them to go
one way when its completely in the different direction, so dont ask
but i do agree with you with the fact of everyone getting lazier by the minute, with those parking sensors and other things!
You guys might complain that everyone is getting lazier, but I'll bet you want on of these (http://youtube.com/watch?v=3aaPgO7RPuY)...That sounds pretty hypocritical.
Well I dont have GPS. I have a KPS system, which includes my Fiancee, Kay,
telling me where to go.
Joking aside, I do not want one, she does. Makes looking at cars hard. I guess if I was going after market, I would go Garmand (sp?)
my dad has gone and bought (off a friend) a Garmin Streetlight III (i think thats the name) but it was made in 2001, it looks like a fish finder you get on boats! its a brick and if thrown at someone, might probably kill! i dont like it!
Hahaha.....I did a little research and garmin use to make fish finders
Anyways I would take this cool little tomtom one which is actually a portable gps unit as well. Pretty sweet!
my dad sold the sat nav, it was useless and outdated, the thing couldnt even do a postcode search to search for the address, you had to know the full address details!!!
Some people become far too reliant on satnav.....Sometimes to the extent of
driving on to a railway line, just because they were told to "turn

Not being sexist here, but I see a sort of patern regarding women drivers, lol. There was also the incident of the London Paramedics who ended up in Manchester....
