High School? What did you drive? What they drive now.
Read the article, then say what you drove in h.s.
early high school, mom's 1998 Toyota Corolla
late high school and up until present day - 1988 Toyota Supra (the one in sig)
whenever i work with my big sarcastic boss - 2001 (i think) Ferrari 360, the Yukon, and only driven the Viper once (hes stingy about it).
I ride the bus, then ill buy my own car, pay for gas, insurance, tickets, etc... That is torrey pines, kids from torrey pines are fags. I got in a fight with a kid from torrey pines at a football game last year. I get so pissed when i see kids my age driving bimmers and benzes. The most expensive (stock) car a kid has at my school is either a mazda6 or a GTI.
um...in the process of HS and only being able to drive for 6 months with a permit...technically my car is my 98 Dodge Neon Sport, but really i drive my parents minivans, a 2003 Dodge Caravan SXT or 2002 Honda Odyssey.
Damn, if I went to that high school, I would purposely buy a 1985 Ford POS and park that thing right next to all those BMWs and Caddies. Scare the shit out of those kids. Anyways I drove a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L V8 in High school. I still drive it today. She just hit 100,000 2 weeks ago and still has the juice to smoke a civic off the line. Love her and holding on to her while I buy a muscle car soon. I'll have to find a pic.
Technically I didn't go to HS, I was homeschooled, and technically I didn't have my license till June of this year (apparently that's what my dad thought would be the safest thing for me.. not a new BMW :banghead: ..lol) but I was driving my mom's '03 Kia Sorento which is now mine for graduating with a high GPA!!
yeah..adding to what I said...at least some of the kids are not just getting these high-enders for nothing - theyre working and keeping their grades up for it, and I respect that. i wish my parents were like that...i feel kinda bad just getting a car for nothing from my dad...
Im in the process of high school and the cars that were originally bought
for me is 1996 Saturn SC1, and a 1990 Chevrolet Beretta GTZ. The Saturn is
long since gone and the Beretta, well, thats in my driveway!
And SJ, I don't think you got the car for nothing. From being on here for some 1500 posts, All I've been able to tell from you is that you're a smart kid, and mainly stick close ore on the honor role. No, if my calculations are correct, *pushes glasses up by the middle* then the square root of 4 is 3, and you stick on the honor role most of the time.
I'll be arriving at the High School in a week, but I know one kid who got a brand new Plymouth Prowler a year or two ago for his 16th birthday. Believe me, it's not uncommon where I live. (Northern suburbs of Chicago.) If you walk down the street in the ritzy town next to mine, you'll see maybe 3 BMW M3's driven by someone under 18. Money doesn't seem to be a problem to those people. As for me, it'll probably be my brother's '95 Accord or something similar. Although I wouldn't mind a used Eldorado.
Where are all the older folks in this thread? 1998 this and that....
Ok, here comes the sweet list of HS cars that I drove.
Learned how to drive in my parent's 1974 Ford Pinto Wagon complete with wood grain siding. Periodically I could drive their "new" 1980 Ford Fairmont station wagon (also with the wood grain - actually took this car on spring break to Florida- stylin') and finally with their late '70s Buick Skylark.
Then I bought my own cars
1972 Olds Delta 88 Royal - excellent car for parking
1975 Ford Granada
1972 VW Baja Superbeetle
after that I was out of HS and on to college where the list continues.
I bought a 72 Monte Carlo for my first car. Its bowm. Perfect condition
and clean as hell.
Thats my friend smells he use to be cool cause he had a fro
I drove a rickety woman's bicycle. :smoke:
i drove my mom's 1980 Jeep CJ-5 for a while & then i bought a 1973 datsun 510. sheesh & i thought that was spoiled - lol
I (used to) drive a 1996 Honda Odyssey and a 1996 Ford F-150. But ever since the night out at the marsh when the cops came and ........
1994 Subaru Impreza ---> 1999 Camry ----> 2 legs
jeeze! when i had my kwaka AR50 for school I thought I was the bomb!
My first car was a mini metro 1.0lt, second was a 1.3lt metro!
some guys first car was a bmw 325 from daddy, but the funny part of that is, HE"S STILL DRIVING THE SAME CAR NOW AFTER 10 YEARS. "who's laughing now Alex?" :fu:
sorry bout that. obviously still a bit sore about that it seems
My first car was a 1988 Ford Crown Victoria, Thats right for those of you
paying attention I was rockin the Interceptor! But then as I was going
around a pretty sharp turn, a tire blew out. This being my second week of
driving I was unaware of how to handle the situation of my heavy, rear
wheel drive car spinning out and panicked. Long story short, I ended up
through a wall with a sign in my gas tank...Sad Times.
My next car was my dads 1998 toyota camry, but then he needed it again so I was back to being a carless bum. Then I got two cars for cleaning an old womans yard. One was an old (I don't know the year) GMC conversion van, and the other a 1975 Buick. The van never ran, well it did for about two blocks. We couldn't get it started, and then after replacing the battery and alternator, it started, but wouldn't go into gear. We replaced the transmission fluid and BANG got her started. She got about a hundred feet then shut off and refused to start. We gave up and had it towed to a shop. They estemaited $12,000 to fix it without including labor. We promptly pushed the van off their property and into a parking spot where we abandoned it and to this day it still sits.
The buick worked, not well, but it worked. Then one day, I tried to start it and was met with a wonderful, loud, extremely fast clicking noise. I tried again and it once again screamed out in pain. So I didn't care enough to get it fixed and its still sitting in my driveway in the exact same spot.
Then I inherited my brothers crappy CRX and have held onto it for over a year.
Point is, with those two free cars I got what I payed for them, Shit.
R32 GTR of course.
I actually didn't drive a car in high school. There was no actual point because I live right across the street from the high school. Everytime I went somewhere with my friends, it was in their cars. When I graduated my grandpa gave me his '76 Chevy Monte Carlo. It's a sweet car and I still have it.
I had chevrolegs to get me to school. My first car, which i got and paid for two years later, was 1982 Toyota Supra L-type. Still got it, still a beater. :smoke:
At 16 I used to drive about a 2001 Sym shark scooter
At 17 I got my frist car a 1997 Peugeot 106 XL
At 18 now i drive a 1994 Honda civic DX.. out of all of them the civic is the best in my personal oppinion
Well, I live in an upclass neighborhood, we have kids driving BMWs, lexuss, Mercades, porsche, of course kids with huge :cussing: trucks (lifted /w legal limit tires, its either 24 or 26 I dont remember), TONS TONS TONS of Mustangs. Of course we have the typical econmy cars to, but most are 00-05 year range. In fact one kid has a H2 Hummer, and my friend got a '67 convertable GTO for his first car, him and his father restored it. :smoke:
Hmm Im in HS still and i drive my part Chevy part Geo part Isuzu Spectrum.
Its a great little car.
At my school its mixed up. We have tons of students that drive Jeeps and Civics. Then we have some students that drive POS's and then we have students that drive BMWs Mercedes Mustangs and Lexus's
everybody here in Suburbia has either a civic, some form of SUV, or their parents old cars, which are usually midsize sedans.
1980 Chevy Citation, 1986 Cavalier (Borrowed mom's after wrecked first
Citation), 1980 Chevy Citation, 198? AMC Eagle.
Were they as cool as most of the other cars in the school lot, no. They were sure a hell of a lot older. But hey bought and paid for em myself, and the Eagle was a blast to drive.
Giggle, now two of the snobbiest rich kids work at the bar I go to. Ahh, bummer for them, I drove beaters for a couple of years, they'll be driving theirs for the rest of their long lives.
Nice cars for HS kids looks like the trend now. I just drove the family cars (Chevy S10 and a Plymouth), and didn't get my first car (an '80 AMC Eagle) until college. :screwy:
I think this speaks well of BMW...spend your money right the first time!
Well, I'm still in highschool but I started with a 99 Mustang (totalled that) got a 99 sebring (it was an auto so I didn't like it) got a 99 prelude (lost my licence racing it so I got ride of it) now I have an 04 sunfire and I will soon have a 99 s-10. I'm telling ya 99 is a good year!!
In the UK its diffrent, you dont get your licence till your 17, and its more expensive to get one that the US. I drove a corsa from the first day I passed my test, and now I drive people to school
In HS, My first car was a 1978 chrysler lebaron. I ended up blowing the motor on that tank on purpose so i could get my 76 firebird. Now I drive an 87 accord lxi and a 92 eclipse.
I am in 12th grade in High School and for my first car my dad gave me his: 1993 Geo Prizm LSi 5 SPD (http://slugger.xomar.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=8) It's a fun car to drive, great economy wise, and better than no car!
dont know why i havent posted on this thread yet but egh, ohwell...
im a senior now, im driving the weaker version of my dream car, and who knows, maybe soon il get the version i want
i drove a 89 Camaro RS------------now i have a 93 Nissan NX2000
i drove a 1992 Suzuki Swift GTi Turbo it was a beast. was and am still very proud of it.
1989 Z24 Caviler
1988 Camaro Z28
93 Ford Taurus
I'm a senior, and currently driving this 1992 Camaro RS (http://www.LevineXb.net/glory.JPG)
Sorry...double post... :banghead:
I was currently going to have a 93 Ford Ranger 4x4 manual V6....that my mom and stepdad were going to give that to me..but then i decided I wanted an S10 and older one..so i talk to my real dad and he was going to get me one...and then I CHANGED my mind again...i wanted a car....soo...I now have a 93 Mazda Protege Dx and it costed 100 bucks and ran perfectly, had 1500 in engine work before i got it...and weve put new piston rings in it and gasket to be on the safe side...and everything that is done to it is in my sig...I dont know the meaning of paying for stuff...i havnt dropped a penny into the car...except for gas...I consider myself very lucky to have this car and all thats on/in it....also...THe most expensive car at my school is probably a 02 eclipse...tahts about it...everyone else has Trucks and Suvs and Sedans....me and about 3 others are the "Import" people... :2cents:
66 VW bus. Wish I had one now.
Im 15, sophmore in CHS. i am driving my parents 94 grand prix, until i save enough money from the cemi-truck unloading job to buy my own car. i too hate kids that get brand new cars for their first car fromt heir parents, even if they are 4.0 students. i was a 1.5 now im a 3.0 and movin up on grades. maybe im just bitter ince i gotta buy my own car gas insurance and college.
I was a junior in high school and had a 1992 saab 900 turbo convertible....im a senior in college now and have a 1999 saab 9-3 convertible...of course turbo
I generally drive my 96 Cavalier LS, but sometimes I take my mom's 2003 Malibu when mine's either in the shop, or whatever.
KICK ASS!
I'm still in highschool, drivin a 92 isuzu rodeo with about 121,000 miles
My mom bought it for 1200 dollars, and she said she'll let me drive it until I buy and fix up my own car.
Said car is probably going to be a friend of a friend's 91 nissan 240sx, powered by an rb20det skyline engine.
It'll probably be in my back yard for a long time, before it sees more road time. Lots of problems to it that needs parts that I have to order from freaking japan. =/ (you try finding a store in florida that sells parts for a decade old skyline)
Well yeah, there's my current situation.
Also I hate the kids at my schol that roll up in hummer h2's (no joke) and brand new scion tC's, and beetles, and lexus', and etc. >_x
I am still in high school, and drive a '93 honda civic...my parents split
the cost with me, cost us 1500. Bought it from a friend down the road. I
cant say my car is one of the bad cars at the school, but there are some
nice ones, like a highly modified '96 eclipse...not really any BMW's,
Mercadee's or cars of that nature, mostly sports cars, or modified cars...i
am in the process of putting the mods on my civic as well.
:fu: damn rich-ass, spoiled kids.
1992 eagle talon esi
Whe I was in High School, I used to drive my dad's 2000 Mazda Protege or my Mom's 1999 Nissan Altima. But now that I graduated I got my brother's 1998 Ford Escort ZX2 (manual  ) for free :hi: , it sucks but it's free.
My High School really isn't like the one illustrated in that article..
A few kids drive expensive cars like that, but most drive "budget" cars. And I live in a wealthy area.
My only assumption would be that the wealthy kids are all private schooled..
As for my cars..
First, I bought myself an 86 Merkur..
I can't keep up with the repair costs though, so I put it on the side of my garage, and my parents helped me take out a loan for a 99 miata.
I dont have a car yet, but my dad drove a '69 Mustang. He bought it for
like half the price though from his friends dads shop. He now drives a
He says that if I keep up with my 4.0 GPA in all my honors classes, I get a new BMW/Mercedes/Acura thats under 40k. Or, I can get a used Supra or Corvette. Although hes still not sure yet. He thinks I would be a little dangerous with a vette.
i drove a cavalier during high school. not a bad car at all. and nice sig^^ i love LP
Does you Daddy tell you,
SHUT UP WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU?
I think your'e dangerous with a keyboard. If you have a 4.0, it must be your IQ.
yes i am an asshole. and it is def my iq. no other way. stop bringing that
other stuff in. i apologize for starting it okay? we are both republicans,
we on the same side. and yes my dad does tell me to shut up when hes
talking to me. most ppl do b4 i sock them in the face. im a bad egg
I came from an area where a few kids drove new BMWs, Infinitis, and the like. I drove and still drive a 1985 Volvo 240 DL wagon.
I'm kinda driving a 1993 Eagle Talon ES. Bought it for 150, fixed her up,
still needs a paint job. Shes my baby. I crashed it on christmas and
screwed it up. snaped my rear axle (axel w/e). I was racing my friends
lumina (haha) and under-estimated a very wide corner, got on some gravel,
slid sidways for about 300 feet, slammed into a curb at 100+ no body damage
except for the back left rim, maybe some body tweaking my speaker box was
knocked out of place. But i fixed it. Still can't drive it, but its fixed!
btw.....I'm back!
1985 Honda Civic 1500 SI, and a 95 Ford Contour 6 Cylinder LX,
Right now i drive the 1997 Toyota Corolla 5spd manual.. its bomb as hell :hi:
1997 plymouth breeze. i paid for 2 grand for it and my parents paid the other 2 grand. at my school must kids have either suvs or sedans with a few bmws, mustangs, and eclipses.
$400 82 dodge challenger (not Charger... it was the weird little rwd import
that kinda looked like a 79 mustang)
i got to use my dad's 85 firebird for dates n stuff (i later bought it)
when she turned 16, a girl in my class got a new, bright red, quad 4 olds cutlass calais w/ the ground effects & stuff, and we all thought she was so lucky...
I can tell I'm one of the old geezers here. I bought my first car for
It ran great, but a big tuna boat, 1964 Mercury Parklane 4DR. 390 4BBL... Lot's of power
At 16 I used to drive about a 2001 Sym shark scooter (35mph)
At 17 I got my frist car a 1997 Peugeot 106 XL (96mph)
At 18 I got a 1994 Honda civic DX.. (108mph)
At 19 now i drive a 1996 Mitsubishi mirage 1.6i 16V Glx-i (120+mph)
When I started driving: 1991 Chevy Lumina Z34
My First Car (HS):1993 Chevy Corsica LT
Car Now(20):1993 Subaru Impreza L
When I started driving: 1991 Chevy Lumina Z34
My First Car (HS):1993 Chevy Corsica LT

93 was a good year
still being in high school im proud to say im driving a black 92 integra
ls. not the fastest thing on the planet but what do i want a super fast car
at this age for, ill end up in the back of a bus or into a bridge, wall,
another car.. etc.
it's turned into a project of mine, should look much better once im out of high school but i don't have any complains.
i cant drive yet but when i turn 16 ima get my dad's 2000 f150 so he can have an excuse to drive his mustang every day llol an the person i ride wit now has a 93 eagle talon/mitsubshi eclipse
16 had a 1972 pinto 4 door
17 had a nice 1984 Fiero GT with a 5 spd and kept it until high s chool was over.
Now I drive a 1999 acura integra GS-R and a 1994 Chevy Blazer s10 and am looking to buy an old mustang or chevelle to restore.
...so you probably own the most reliable car out there (Trust me) :wink2:
you sure it wasn't an se instead of a gt? as far as i've heard, 85 was the first year fiero gt (i've had one) and the 5 speed wasn't available on V6 cars until at least 86. that's just stuff i've read while i had my 85 gt 4 speed and 86 se auto, correct me if i'm wrong...
there's the old challenger w/ a high school buddy
You may be right because I really don't remember.
fun cars, but not totally practical...
You dont think so?
I love mine, at the track, on the street its always a blast... I even take it on road trips... I have a hitch and I pull a trailer... IM all set no matter where I go.
well, i have a dog and a wife, and they didn't fit in the car at the same
other than that, i loved my gt...
Me too... dog sits on Feincees lap... but its a pug... so it fits fine.
we've got a collie, looks just like lassie..... it just wasn't happening. the dog barely fit in there by herself...
"Lassie, did timmy fall down the well again?"
for a truck in high school would bronco be to big because my parents are thinking bout getting me one they seen for 2,000 its real clean new paint, rims, tires, and all but with the gas prices going up would it be a very wise choice
Im in hs still and i currently drive an 89 civic hatch.. its pretty sick
Well what year Bronco are you talking about? And no, i dont think there really is such thing as 'too big' when it comes to vehicles no matter how old you are, as long as you can afford to drive it. If your parents pay insurance and you pay gas then its not that bad (if thats how it will go that is).
i drove a '03 civic lx when i was 16, and i just got a '05 rsx ............i dont find it wrong with driving it if i buy it myself, ppl just gotta work hard
In highschool I drove a 1977 Ford Maverick V6 which I converted to a 289 V8 and got it to run low 14s with the little money I had  I loved that car, I wish I still had it. It was a extremely faded Ford blue and had a grey primer hood with a cracked windsheild. I miss her. I sold it for around $1,100. :banghead:
Haha...I remember what I did just to get that old V6 out of there, I put a 150HP shot of NOS on it just to blow it up  I didnt have to spend any money getting the 289 engine. I got it for free.
idon' drive im a freshman in hs
I drive a 92 accord and I just got that for college till then i was driven by my grandma in a white kia spectra, i hate that car too little head room and it feels jerky when i drive it.
I Used To Drive My Favourite Teacher Home On Her Desk In Front Of The Sex Education Class
I got my licsence a few months, ago, and I'm a sophmore in high school. Right now I drive an 03 Lancer ES, but its really my dad's. I hope that this summer I can get a 240z that will be mine to do what I want with it.
Haha oh really? What was HIS name?
good one
I got my permit 2 months ago, won't be drivin alone for awhile but I imagine I'll be drivin an 86 saab 9000 4 speed manual Turbo pushin like 14+lbs of boost. Shes weird, but shes a beast. But I wouldn't mind a 240sx
Nobody in my school has Mercedes or bimmers. Dodge DSMs and Probes mostly.
1993 toyota corolla. i love it with its chipped paint, crack in the exhaust manifold, dents in the bumper. and i love that i paid only 500 dollars.
sounded like a good deal do you still have the car
id pay for gas an insurance an it looks like late 80's early 90's i think i could drive it i drive my mom's full size expedition an im only 14 1/2
Doesnt sound too bad. I myself like the early 70's model alittle better but really dont mind the late 80's ones. As i said before, i dont think any vehicle is 'too big' for a young driver. Its pretty cool (sucks for you tho) that you'd be paying it all yourself.
its got big ole'monster truck wheels lol im trin to get a bid on my neighborhood cutting grass its big money but i gotta get my mower fixed first lol oh ya its bout 50,000 a year i think :ohcrap:
I wish I as 14 and a half and was makin 50 thousand a year cutting grass.
Best way to have them, raised up which is where most trucks belong. We only get like 4 or 5 months that we have grass so i dont even think its possible to make 5 grand a year here
For my 16th birthday I got a 76 Mustang. Two months later I smashed it.
My Dad sold it for 100 bucks. Then, I inherited the family car, a 82
Escort. I drove that a few years until I blew the motor in college. The
car was replaced with a 88 Escort and I blew that motor...years later...I'm
on my 7th
Escort - '99 ZX2. I'm currently swapping out the automatic transmission for a stick shift.
"grasps his chest" YOU WRECKED A 76!!!!
How exactly did you blow both those motors?
does this post maybe need to be moved to the thread concerning fords? :wink2: j/k, fordfromhell...
Actually, that would have been Mazdas wrong doing for one of them
On the 82, we cracked the cylinder head and didn't think it was worth
replacing it for the third time. The engine overheated. On the 88, I
think I threw a rod or the motor seized. I don't know. I've never sold a
car to another person or did a trade-in. Basically, when I am done with a
car, it's dead and gets sent to the scrap heap. I eventually learned to
take of motors and don't have any problems anymore. Now, I kill automatic
oh, yeah. forgot about "fazda's"
I heard a story of a senior at my high school who bought a Mercedes SL55 AMG from a guy for $5000. The seller was moving and couldn't ship the MB, he sold it for peanuts because he was so desperate. Imagine pulling up to school in an SL55!!!
I have M&M's and Skittles :hi:
En serio? $5000?
are you pullin our chain?
well im only a junior in HS, But ive noticed that most of the cars at my
school are pretty lame. Then theres those few who are really into the
older cars, the greasers. Then theres the ones prefering civics (huge
ricers). And then, theres the ones who are really into their cars, like
myself. There seems to be an abundance of pre 1993 rx7 turbos and eagle
talons. Theres this one kid whose put a bunch of money into a crown vic,
its pretty crazy. Anyways, heres what I drive:
So far ive only done exhaust(magnaflow) and wider wheels(5Zigen).
a 1970 Opel Gt...first stick I learned to drive...great car!
now...1975 chevy pu, 84 nisson, and 94 Isuzu Rodeo 5spd!
I drove a modded Z71 that was meticulously maintained. Ive seen new cars
that didnt shine like old green-go.
Then I drove a Z28.
I went to a pretty wealthy school, so there where quite a few vettes, an boss 302, a big block dart, some type of mercedes (i saw it before I was big into cars, I just remeber it said V12 Bi-turbo on the side) it was her first car, like 5 G35s, a handful of 350Zs, a modded Evo, a modded Miata, a few TAs and Z28s, a bunch of escalades, tons and tons of the biggest damn trucks you ever seen, A friend of mine drove a modded F350 that was lifted and had 38s all around, a dodge with something like 12 or 15 inches of lift, we used to sit under it after football practice for shade, a porsche turbo and a NSX, then a bunch of ricers.
