i own the dvd, easily one of the best movies i've ever seen
Yep, Very Good Movie.
Shame about the poor bastards who died.
On the big screen , those pans across Mogadishu from the chopper's
perspective just left you with your jaw dropping to the floor... Ridley
Scott just kicks ass, nobody touches the eerie feelings he has to his
movies... See Bladerunner and Alien, same thing... 8)
But, I have never seen a war flick more realistic than the beginning of Saving Private Ryan...
I was in the Air Force and got the opportunity to be choppered in on a
Black Hawk to recover a downed F16...Black Hawk Down is an amazing
movie...I'm not big into war flicks, but that was definitely an exception
Just seen it. Kicks some major ass.
I knew we had to have something in common. I spent 23 years in the AF, most of my time in R&R so I've scraped up quite a few electric lawn darts.
hahaha...Love the Lawn Dart reference...Only a fellow victim of the Falcon
Bite would call it that, or anyone who's worked with any other jet that has
two engines...It was a pretty intense moment, finding that crash site, as
I'd never seen one before and they don't quite tell you what to
expect...That, and everyone's eyes were on me...I don't think I really knew
anyone involved in R+R, just met a few...I was your typical Weapons Crew
member, you know, slackin off, beatin on Crew Chiefs, harrassing the
i have never bin in the airforce to young but whats a lawn dart as u called it it sounds like an odd name and what does it do if u could explane it to me i would under stand hehe thx
The F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet is called the "Lawn Dart" because of
its single engine configuration...If it were to have its engine fail or
damaged and it no longer received power (thrust) then it would no longer be
flying, and in a sense would become a $26 million lawn dart (since it would
most likely nose down into the ground, much like its nickname
ohh that would make sence a kinda wow i dont evin know thx for the explantion
there was a big uproar in Mogadishu after the movie was made. many people were upset that they made everybody except the American Troops look like savages.
Yeah, well...I can't say I feel any pity for the Mogadishans feeling they
were portrayed poorly...Boo hoo
If they displayed the Americans in a less honorable way or make the Mogs out to be Jolly Good Chaps... Who in the US would go and see the movie?
don't get me wrong, i completely agree. i was just stating the fact that some people were angry. but then again, contraversial movies are always the best.
I guess so.
Tho people love to see shit get blown up too :)
Hi All! In my opinion any movie with even a brief glimpse of Orlando Bloom is a winner. He is so hot. When you throw Josh Hartnet in the mix you can't go wrong. Oh yeah, the plot and action was Awesome too. :D
lol, you sound like my sister.
I thought it was a pretty good movie. EXPLOSIONS!
Umm...fellow Af'r here to...but I hated the 4 years I was in...I don't do
well with authority...especially those I have no respect for...
1989-1993...Utah...Soto Cano, Honduras.
