Somebody please offer some insight..
I have a 1996 Nissan Altima SE. Generally, everything's pretty good with the car for the past few years. Today, I took it to McDonalds, sat in there for 30 minutes and headed to a coffee shop. I realized that my car suddenly sounds like a friggin 60's muscle car. I hear some knocking around the muffler area, and sure enough, the muffler isn't tight, I can move it around with my hand. This must be a common problem, but I'm a relatively new driver and I'm paranoid about anything. Can this be fixed quickly and will the repairs be sustainable? Also, will it cost a lot ? Thanks.
from the sound of your post the pipe or muffler has broken off. take it to some muffler shop's and get some estimate's. it's normally a free inspection
How much do you see it costing?
If the pipe's just broken I'd say not a penny over $50, took me about 2 minutes to fix mine when my exhaust broke off my header. All they'll do is weld it back together.
