cavalier 2.2L engine shuts of after about 15 to 20 minutes sometimes longer if it is gear. take it out of gear and it seems to run great but put it back in gear and it shuts down instantly. wait a little while and it runs great. runs great on short distance trips but go beyond that point and it shuts down at every light and once even goin down the road. i have not really begun to do anything to correct it yet but was wondering if anybody has any idea of the problem.
bad fuel pump or ignition module/coils
this engine still has distributor cap but the fuel pump idea does sound possible. i would think if it was the distributor it would still run rough when out of gear but it doesnt. thanks
is it the original engine 94's list coils and module?from 89/90 up were coil packs on 2.0L and 2.2L
go to an electronics supplier and get some freeze spray .it is made for bad
thermal components.if it is an electronic module, spray it and it will cool
to 0 degrees or so.if the problem is not a module ,have the fuel pump
pressure tested.what happens to the rpm when it is put in gear?is there a
there could be a vacuum leak somewhere too.
