hi i dont know any thing about cars! ok here is my question -my explorer has 82,000 miles on a 4.0l motor it is running ok,but do i need to have the motor tuneup at any certian milage cant find any information in the manual that came with it.

A set of spark plugs usually requires replacement after about 20,000-30,000 miles (32,000-48,000km), as for the wire's if they are still the original wire's
(original wire's will be numbered 1 to 6 for a 6 cylinder)
if you have never had a tune up then i would think you are due if you bought it used then have it checked
normal tune-up would be plugs/wire's/air & fuel & pcv filters

look at the owners manual and see which spark plug number it requires for a tune up or call a dealership for the correct plug number
rule of thumb, if the spark plug number ends in:
C- then its to be replaced at 30K
P- is changed at 50K
PP- is changed at 100K

really all he's doing is pointing out the frequency of fomoco (or mofoco, in some circles) breakdowns... and how often people write in about them...
