Beeper sounding when engine turned off !

Home  \  Repairs & Maintenance  \  Beeper sounding when engine turned off !

I just changed my timing belt and now of a sudden, the beeper inside my
'93 Geo Metro sounds when the ignition is turned off.

It beeps until I remove the key! All lights off. No warning lights on....

It didn't used to do that! Loud and irritating!

How can I find the cause?

there is probably a fuse you could take out to stop it from doing that

Just a question, but is your door open when you do this?

Haha thats an obvious but actually a good question, some people dont think of that. Removing a fuse may get rid of the beeper sound but it doesnt fix whatever the problem may be (if there is a problem).

It has been raining like some tropical rain forest here in
Eastern Washington for about two weeks now....

The beeping stopped this morning after driving to work.

My daughter noticed the interior light blinking erratically.

SO - looks like water is shorting out the interior light somewhere
and making the computer think a door is opened.

Funny - the switches on the doors don't turn on the overhead
light anyway! '93 used car.....

So ---- sorry for the post. Falsie alarm.

In my car the beep is a warning that your key is in the ignition when the door is open. It may be a preventive program to keep you from locking your keys in the car. It may also happen if you leave your lights on when exiting the car.
