I had my mechanic do a fluid and filter change today, because of a code
that came up when he did and ECM. The code was a P1811 Transmission Long
Shift...what does this mean. I have been searching the net and can't find
what the codes mean exactly. Problems I have been noticing; when driving
and usually when the van starts to get warm, when I am accelerating it
shifts hard and has a humming noise. Do these symptoms have anything to do
with the code that came up and the tranny? What if something else could it
be. I am worried because I have 3 small children and live in a small town
where I have to drive 50 km away to the nearest town for diapers and
formula and I really depend on my vehicle.
Thank you to all who take the time to respond and to those who took the time to read this.
The long shift may just mean a sticking valve in the valve body, which new fluid could fix. I would have a trans tech check it out.
