86.5 nissan 4*4 truck

my nissan truck tachometer quit and the truck engine skipped under acceleration at the same time in gear.truck has 118,000 mi never a problem before.runs fine revving up out of gear but tach is dead.haynes manual doesn't address this problem.any ideas?flydog03 from s.c.
