Crv locking problem
Crv locking problem
When I start up my dads crv it has the light on for the back door being
open and ive repeadily tried to close it and it seems very secure but
because the car thinks the door is open the remote key lock will not lock
the doors. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
Yeah, most likley the switch itself for the back door has malfunctioned.
You'll need to check the wiring and switch to determine if the switch has
failed. You can test te switch with a continuity tester which is built in
to just about any digital multimeter (or you can get a cheapo single
continuity tester at any hardware store)
If the switch or wiring is defective, replacement will be required. If it's
the switch, you'll need to order a new switch -- if it's the wiring, it
will be as simple as replacing it with the same guage of wiring that it
currently uses.
Can't be certain, but it's worth checking if it isn't too much trouble for
you to do. It's nothing major really, just a basic component in the system
that detects the door is ajar needs to be replaced. I'd say it'd take 30
minutes or less to replace after required materials are obtained. This is
just my opinion; from a basic electronics standpoint.
I'd check the switch from the outside first. Before you start pulling it to bits. Find the switch and see if you can activate it yourself with the door open. You might need a pen or screwdriver or something, depending on the switch type. If this doesn't work, then take the door apart.
