break light repair

break light repair
hey guys,
i have a 98 toyota corolla. Overall it is in great condition, although the right break light does not light up. What kinds of books or websites could i read that would be good to do the fixing myself? Any help is greatly appreciated!

It really isnt that hard to fix, most likely its a bulb that went out, just buy a new one, and most cars you should be able to just unscrew a few things and take the taillight off to replace the bulb.

get a chiltons manual or a haynes manual just for general purpose. but the light thing is easy just get a new bulb. and if its somthing else you will have a manual to look at and find the issue.

Open the trunk, and look at the panel inside the trunk on the side where the light doesn't work. You'll seeseveral wires goinginto either the panel (which you'll need to remove) or into the actauallamp housing. There will be one pair of wires that boyh go into the same housing, these are your stop and tail light wires. Grasp thenplastic hiusingthese wire disappear into, and twist it slightly, probably counterclockwise. This will seperate then bulb socket from then lamp housing, and you can then twist the bulb itself out of it's socket. re install the new bulb in the reverse order. I would also recommend a Haynes manual as a good source of helpful information.
