Turbo question

Turbo question
I would really love to turbo my d15b7 for cheap. I don't really have money or all the knowledge to do a whole swap, so does anyone know where to get a fairly cheap turbo? I would like to run my engine stock with it, well you know what I mean, low PSI.

I also heard that if you want to do it cheap you can use an old Saab turbo. What all do I need to do that on my 94 Civic DX hatch. I need to know everything I would need to buy to make it run safe, and not hurt my motor.

by the way, my engine has 130,000 miles on it if that makes any difference.

Does anyone have all the stuff to turbo a D15B7 that they would sell? Or instructions to build own?

Can you run a turbo on this motor without an intercooler, like 3 or 4 psi? How would you set the boost to that level, would you need a controller?

One more question, if I got this kit would all I have to do be assemble it and build pipes for it?

If i were you, i wouldnt turbo a car with 130,000 on it, it doesnt have much life in it anyways. unless it is very well taken care of. maybe you should drop the oil pan and check to see if your motor is in good shape and within specs. Also a compression check would be wise. trying to turbo something on the cheap side sounds like something hard to do. :2cents:

It's been taken care of and Honda engines last forever. My neighbor has and Acura Legend with about 220,000 miles on it and my other buddy had an older civic with around 315,000 miles on it.

alright, first you have to get that compression test done. and check the engine for extensive wear. if its in good shape and has good compression, i would suggest going to an exotic car junk yard. there you should find a decent trubo. you should be able to use exaust pipe for the pluming. an intercooler would be a good idea. that way you know you are getting what you want out of it. and as far as adjusting the turbo, well it really depends. some have a screw on them that takes an alan wrench to adjust the boost and some you have to have an electronic controler. so it really depends on what you get. :smoke:
